"can i get anyone more coffee?" a blonde, blue-eyed young waitress said, voice sweet as honey and a fake, polite smile on her lips.
"oh, thank you" the red-haired boy replies, handing her his soon to be refilled (for the 4th? time) cup, he nodded with a grin, and she excused herself to go serve other tables.
" you won't eat anything with that? for real?", the black haired boy tried for what it seemed to be like the millionth time, the disapproval clear in his voice.
"jeongukkie, it doesn't matter how many times you repeat the question, the answer isn't gonna change".
"i thought vegans died on the 70s", he groaned, munching on a mouthful of waffles and bacon.
"and i'm bringing them back from death", he winked and grinned, emptying the cup in one go. he cracked his fingers, neck and back, and sighed happily, "i'm refilled".
"glad to know it only took you four cups this time", the boy rolled his eyes and hurried his breakfast, a few minutes later he dropped the cutlery to the sides of his now empty plate and wiped his mouth with a napkin, "done. you ready?".
"i'm always ready".
"i love you, pumpkin".
"i love you, honey bunny",
jeongguk leaned close to taehyung, kissing him passionately and making the other moan happily, not minding the uncomfortable table dividing them, then he shot him a wide, white, beautiful bunny smile, taking the 32- caliber pistol previously hidden in his jeans and jumping from his seat, standing on it and then on the table. he looked down, meeting his boyfriend's gaze, and winked at him, he kept his weapon up, firm arm moving the pistol and pointing at nowhere in particular, and proceeded to shout, loud and clear, a decided tone that he knew gave everyone goosebumps "everybody be cool, this is a robbery". the diner wasn't jammed, but there was a healthy number of people, exactly the way they liked it, easy to control and normally rapid robberies, without big complications or delays. waiters stopped taking orders, chattering going mute suddenly, along with the clinking of metal against metal and porcelain, the only noticeable noises being the machines in the kitchen still working, the coffee brewing and bacon frying.
he heard taehyung laughing maniacally and smirked. the red-haired boy stood from his seat and walked towards the front of the diner to get a clear view of every single booth. pace firm but relaxed, gun (the exact same model as jeongguk's, because matching boyfriends) in hand, ready to shoot in case he needed to (even when they both knew they didn't, this was an easy robbery, amateur, even). "i want everyone's wallets in the bag. anybody moves or acts suspiciously, and i won't doubt, i'll fucking shoot you, you hear me?", his eyes were wide open and a vein popping from his neck, voice a mixture of insane and scary, almost psychopathic behavior that makes people surrender without even thinking twice.
this side of taehyung drove jeongguk completely insane, giving him a dose of adrenaline that no other drug could ever give, in this scenarios the boy would act so differently, so not taehyung, but at the same time completely like his natural self, this was a sight worth to remember. jeongguk focused on the task on hand, trying to forget about the love of his life for once, he looked at the crowd, a few people crying, mostly kids, but nothing too crazy. "this is easy, people, if you don't fight, you live. now, if you try to play hero, well...", he shrugged his shoulders and tilted his head to the side, acting innocent, while taehyung walked again towards the wing of the diner where their table was located and started wandering table by table, collecting their goods, and continued the boy's sentence by forming guns with his hands, pointing them at a random man (a fat, greasy man that fitted the stereotypical american that never failed to appear in a movie just well, eating an entire buffet at 8 am before being interrupted from an early death by the two robbers. he was wearing a red cap and everything, just in case it wasn't cliché enough), and faking the sound of a shot, grin in his face. "the boy here can get a little too violent if you provoke him".
"hey!" taehyung interrupted, pretending to be hurt by his words, and continued "come on, sweethearts. we don't wanna be here all day, mhh?", while walking closer to the counter. once he reached his starting point again, he signalled one of the waitresses (the one who had refilled his mug multiple times that same morning) to come closer to him, which she obliged, not that she has much of a choice, taehyung thought, smiling to himself, waiting for her to reach the counter, her head was ducked and she was clearly scared. "hey, honey. i won't hurt you", he said with a sweet smile, moving a lock of hair from her face, but stopped immediately when he heard a cough somewhere behind him, and he knew it was jeongguk, so he just pecked a kiss on the girls cheek, making her jump in the spot and turned his head looking for the one who interrupted him. "eager, are we?", he said grinning, and moved his head to put his attention back on the girl, "be a good girl and collect the wallets from that sector for me, won't you...". he peeked at the tag in her uniform and smiled, "...lisa?", he waved at the other wing of the diner, and she nodded shyly, taking the plastic black bag in her hands and started walking towards the closest table. the family sitting there looked at her with expressions of fear and confusion, but when they felt taehyung's gaze on them, they rushed to put all their valuable belongings on the bag. he knew that he might look, and actually be nice, but there was something about the knowledge that a single glare and he would make you oblige to anything, call it fear or respect, that made him feel unstoppable.
everyone was quiet, the only sounds being the machines, never stopping working, wallets and coins falling inside the plastic bag and whimpers and sobs of scared clients.
"you", jeongguk waved at the old lady behind the counter from his spot in the table, "the register, empty it", the woman obliged, and taehyung passed her a new bag to throw the content there. when she gave it back, he shrugged his shoulders and smiled apologetically, taking it and then calling the waitress up, rushing her. once she finished with the last tables, she gave him the bag, never looking at him right in the eye, and he grinned while thanking her and then walked back next to his boyfriend. the boy jumped from the table and pecked him in the lips when he landed on the floor, taking the heavier plastic bag from his hands and smiling at the scared audience in front of them, "thanks for your time, dear friends. don't forget to vote!", and they left the diner holding hands, running, laughing, careless.
they had parked the car a block away, just in case. when they reached it and hopped inside, they started making out, passionately. taehyung was the first to break the kiss, for jeongguk's discouragement, but when the younger saw the big grin plastered on his boyfriends face he just kissed his cheek and returned the smile, as drunk in adrenaline as the other. he started the car and started driving, windows down in an attempt to fight the heavy and humid air of august.
"that was fucking amazing", taehyung screamed, laughing.
"you were", jeongguk replied quietly, sending him a gaze full of love and passion, "your acting skills are incredible, and also the fact that you're insane".
he chuckled and pecked jeongguk in the cheek, flushing. "thank you, you can call me bonnie".
"that makes me clyde?", jeongguk asks, amused.
"i wouldn't want it any other way", he replies, before turning his head to the window and losing himself in the sights and landscapes. little does he know he's even more beautiful for jeongguk than all those amazing views, than any view.
the road was long and lonely, and jeongguk had lived that life for a long time, alone, with his own thoughts eating him alive. but call it destiny, call it coincidence, god or fucking gandhi, one day a red-haired, presumably insane boy appeared in his life, and decided to join him on an endless trip, taking all the pain away and replacing it with pure joy and unconditional love. there was something about living this life with him, always moving, always running, always together, no destination or motivation other than being together and happy, that made jeongguk feel like the luckiest man on earth.
maybe it was the loud rock music and air hitting his face, or the smoke filling his lungs, maybe the two packed bags on the back seat, or the yet to linger excitement from the robbery, maybe it was the beautiful boy sleeping peacefully in the passenger seat, or the fact that he was real, and his... or maybe it was the entire situation as a whole, but there was something right then and there, that made jeongguk feel that they were infinite.
