Chapter Text
When Mika found Yuu, he was laying on the grass, looking at the night sky.
“What are you doing, Yuu-chan? You should be in bed.”
Surprised by Mika's voice, Yuu sat and looked behind him.
“Oh, Mika!”
Yuu was smiling.
“Don’t just say “Oh, Mika.” What are you doing outside in the middle of the night? You have to sleep, Yuu-chan! You’re going to be tired in the morning!”
Yuu didn’t listen. Instead, he just said:
“Look at the stars, Mika! The night sky is really beautiful. Come on, sit with me!”
Mika gave a sigh before obeying. Yuu was really stubborn when he wanted something so he just gave in.
They laid there in silence for a few minutes, looking at the sky before Yuu spoke again:
“Truly beautiful, isn’t it?”
Mika looked at the sky and saw the little lights that were the stars.
“I guess they are.”
It was not as if they were not beautiful, it was Mika who was the problem. Except for his feelings for Yuu who remained as strong as ever, maybe even stronger. All his other feelings were dulled. He could no longer see the beauty in a lot of things. That were moments like this that made him wish he was still human and could still feel like one.
“Look, Mika! A shooting star!”
Mika looked just in time to see the star.
“Did you make a wish?”
A wish to a shooting star… As if such a thing was possible. There were no such things as “miracles”.
“Making a wish to a shooting star won’t make it come true.”
Did Yuu truly believe that he could have his wish granted by a star?
The shorter one frowned.
“You were much more fun when we were kids. Come on, no need to be so serious all the time.”
It seemed that their personalities had reversed. In the past, it was Mika who was the one to believe in those things, the one who hoped and dreamt of a better world.
“I’m sure that even you do have a wish.”
A wish. Mika did indeed have a wish. The same as in the past. The safety and happiness of his family. Mika wished for nothing but for Yuu, the last remaining member of his family, to be safe and happy. That was all that he wanted.
“I just want Yuu-chan to be safe. I don’t want to lose you again. I don’t want you to be hurt or sad. If I can keep you safe, if I can be by your side, then I will be happy.”
Yuu smiled.
“I wish the same. I wish for Mika to be safe and happy. I will protect you and I promise that we will never be separated again.”
Both Yuu’s and Mika’s wishes were the same. To be together, safe and happy. And even if making a wish on a shooting star couldn’t make it come true, they could make that wish come true by themselves. They would get their happiness.
And one day, even if it were to take years of research, Yuu swore that Mika would be human again. He would one day be free from his curse, able to eat curry with him. One day, they would share a meal together.
“Everything is going to be alright, Mika. I promise that we will always be together. And I will do anything to make you human again.”
That promise was one Yuu swore to keep. They would get their happiness.
