Bio

Hello! Call me StarMasher. I am a business owner by day, and a fanfiction and original fiction author by night. In college, I majored in Computer Science and English, combining my love of both tech and writing.

I've been a reader/writer my whole life. My adoration started with animal fantasy, but then I found dystopian sci-fi and epic fantasy. My favorites in these genres are works by Robin Hobb, Scott Lynch, and Leigh Bardugo.

Also a gamer, not that me writing 100,000 word+ stories for a game series purely out of nerdy love didn't already make that obvious. :D

As a writer, I like to focus most on characters. I am drawn to writing about platonic love, dystopias, 'what-if' type questions related to technology, and the perseverance of hope and the human spirit even in dark times. And flawed heroes.

And gray morality. Gray morality everywhere.

For my Jak and Daxter reboot series, its main influences have been based on the blending of east vs west as the original series did. I'd say the greatest influences are Miyazaki films (e.g Jak has been influenced by Ashitaka in Princess Mononoke, and Haven itself is similar to Castle in the Sky). Plus some added or expanded themes about family, death, man vs. society, man vs. self, etc.

The story also mixes medieval to industrial European and east and southeast Asian settings all together. In my version of Haven City, a European Industrial era type dirty factory might sit right next to a building inspired by a Japanese geisha okiya, as an example.

Other influences are the scarce concept art Naughty Dog released of their scrapped Jak 4/reboot. I had to make many guesses as to what they were aiming for, but I hope I hit the mark! If you take a peek at those images, you may recognize where I've slipped references in. :)
