I haven't had this acc long, and have only have ao3 as my main fic source since ~2020-21, but I have engaged with fandom since ~2015, which isn't too long, however, I have picked up on a few things. 1) Fandom is often niche, while some areas are toxic, on ao3 we are KIND and INCLUSIVE - so no bashing, no rude comments - hate language can and will be reported. 2) No one owes you updates or perfect writing, authors will let you know if they want criticism or a beta. 3) If you want a fic idea actualised, write it- if you want your writing and reading separate, use seperate accs or anon 4) DEAD DOVE: DO NOT EAT, read the tags, tag responsibly 5) If you don't like reading or writing, do not feel compelled to write or read fic- there are endless ways to interact with fandom, don't torture yourself 6) Don't share fic w/o explicit authorial permission 7) learn about ff history, it's cool
