This is Way Too Much Fun
Bio
I've been writing here on AO3 for more than a year now, having a great time sharing stories that I began writing after reading a time travel, science fiction, horror, adventure romance novel.
The Ministry of Time is a science fiction novel published in 2024 by Kaliane Bradley. It was on many recommended lists and a fandom was created on the Archive of Our Own website. In the novel, the far future drops a time machine into near future London. Scientists working with military intelligence discover they can extract people from the past, minutes before their deaths, and then hopes find a use for them in the future. What that use would be, they don’t quite explain to the human beings they have abducted. If the person pulled from the past survives the trip, they are assigned a “bridge” to help them adjust. This bridge becomes a housemate, introducing them into the modern world.
The novel’s narrator, a young woman who is hired to be a bridge for Lt. Commander Graham Gore, a Royal Navy officer from 1847, does not introduce herself by name. Graham calls her Little Cat, and he does know her name, but the reader never learns it. The more the reader ponders the lack of a name for her, the greater the book moves from science fiction, romance, and action adventure to horror.
Once I started exploring the whole idea of Bradley's world, the possibilities were endless. If you look at the link for the series of stories, "The Future has Yet to be Written" they are in chronological order.
So many original characters have appeared that there is also a page for character list and descriptions, including a timeline for the life of Captain Arthur John Gore, the main character of my stories in this universe.
