“Hello?” he says, trying to keep his voice down. (His mother is sleeping in the next room, after all.)
“Wakatoshi! Thank God.” Tendou seems to have no similar concern. In fact, he’s practically shouting, as though they’re at practice and he’s just accidentally sent the ball careening across the court. “I hoped you’d be up.”
“I wasn’t, actually,” Wakatoshi clarifies.
But Tendou doesn’t seem to hear him. “I need your help with something. It’s really important.”

“Ushijima, what is this?” Semi asks.
Ushijima doesn’t answer.
Semi waits a few seconds for the music to quiet down a little – the violins finish their high melody and shift into a softer cadence – then leans forward past Tendou’s feet, several bags of chips, and half a cooler of water and repeats themself, louder.
The driver in question turns down the volume with a small black knob on the left side of the dashboard, but doesn’t shift his gaze from the road. “This is a road trip.”
The Shiratorizawa third years go on a road trip after their graduation. It goes about as well as you'd expect.
