Since his past life has merged with the current one, the pain in his chest grew as he found out in his own memories everything that happened back in the 854. It's December and there's no longer a duty that can hold him back from speaking out his feelings (or trying to). There, under the mistletoe, he takes the courage to tell Hange Zoë what he couldn't in their past life.
