Summary
What I wanted to write was a quick one-shot that explored the idea of Harry being the biological son of Voldemort, only Voldemort doesn't know he has a son and is also as evil as ever. Meanwhile, Harry is just a charismatic kid with a snake and ridiculously powerful magic.
It turned into a series rewrite.
Here's book one, I guess.
Features Harry Potter trying to keep his friends from doing crimes, a tired Remus Lupin spontaneously adopting a traumatized child with absurd magical capabilities, Severus Snape doing the bare minimum which is still somehow more than what Dumbledore is capable of, and Harry's friends' growing exasperation with Harry's terrible decision-making skills.

The Hogwarts class of 1998 has graduated. Ginny Weasley was asked to play as a chaser with the Holyhead Harpies. Hermione Granger serves an internship for the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Ron Weasley works with his brother, George, in Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.
Harry Potter lives alone, making dinner each night for his girlfriend who sometimes can't make it altogether. He loves her, but has nothing much to do, and no one much else to hang out with. Most people offer to be his friend only for the fame. He wants someone real to spend time with, and someone who won't offer an apology and run off to work.
Draco Malfoy also lives alone. He is also bored, wishing his friends didn't get internships straight away at the ministry. He spends little time with them, as they always have something better to do. If only he didn't have the mark of the recently defeated Lord Voldemort stained into his arm.
Something happens, though, that gives both of the bored boys a chance to better get to know each other and become the most unlikely of friends.
