In moments of desperation and conspiracy, the things people will do for you, simply because you are nice, shows how quick you can turn many against one.
Min Yoongi is an alpha, who ran away from a tragedy in Seoul wants to settle down for a mate. The omega he wants cannot not mate Yoongi until his brother allows him to.
Said brother who is also an alpha won’t allow it simply because Yoongi ‘stole his land.’
Which is entirely untrue.
Since then, the two could not meet in secret anymore. If they passed each other on the street, then it was a curt nod or a bow in respect. Nothing more, nothing less.
The towns folk felt bad for the alpha and omega. They wanted nothing more than to see the two happy but if the brother was going to be an issue there was only one way to solve it.
Conspire against alpha Kim Seokjin.
Jimin came up with a brilliant plan. After all the beta is known for scheming and betting. And the plan will take place on a day where everyone will witness.
Daegu has a tradition where the alphas race each other to see who can grab the scarf of a single omega wrapped around a wooden pole. Yoongi will enter the competition unaware of the conspiracy.
Taehyung will have to put his scarf on one of the wooden poles. Here’s the catch about how to convince the alpha brother.
Alpha Kim Seokjin is known for being abrupt and rude to many, but he’ll only act decent in front of a certain omega.
Enter Jeon Jeongguk.
The omega has flirted with Seokjin once in a while. Mostly when the alpha has had too much to drink. Jeongguk is going to enter the race, with the intention of getting not one but two alpha’s attention.
When Seokjin see’s that Jeongguk put his scarf on the pole, Seokjin will want to enter the race, but it will take more convincing. Enter Park Jimin and Jung Hoseok.
The morning of the race is on a cloudy day. The townsfolk are gathering around a wide area of field where the race will take place. Yoongi had no idea as to why Jimin practically begged him to join the race, but he figured it would help get his mind off of Taehyung.
He knew the omega would be there, but it didn’t matter. He was going to prove he was worthy of being a proper mate, whether Kim Seokjin liked it or not. He was walking his horse over to the starting line, where he could see other alphas and betas saddling up their horses. He could also see alpha Kim Seokjin roaming around with a scowl to his face.
Yoongi really wanted to punch the alpha for not letting him court Taehyung, but he has to remind himself that he would never do that again. Not after what he did in Seoul. He vowed he would never fight again.
But Taehyung was someone worth fighting for.
Park Jimin is always into drama.
It is why he is planning on setting up Jeongguk with Yoongi… if Yoongi can manage to catch Jeongguk’s scarf.
“Alright you know what to do omega Jeongguk. Act surprised, but then quietly reject him. I’ll take care of the betting and set alpha Seokjin up for a trap,” Jimin finished telling Jeongguk the plan Hoseok was nearby, ready to back up Jimin when needed.
“Ok, you two owe me big time. But anything for those two. They deserve love,” Jeongguk says as he begins to make his way towards the place where the omegas will hang their scarfs.
“Alright taking bets! $50 for alpha Min, $50 for the new alpha!” Jimin yells out loud to catch people’s attention. He was loud enough that a certain alpha made his way over to the beta.
“$100 for alpha Min, $100 for-” Jimin’s voice suddenly trails off when he inhales wildfire. He turns around to come face to face with alpha Seokjin himself.
“-Uh uh $100 for alpha Kim! Taking bets for alpha Kim!” Jimin shouted instead, otherwise his head would have been cut off.
“Jimin are you placing bets again? If you are I’ll kick your ass,” the alpha sneered. “Oh it’s only in your favor… say alpha Kim didn’t you know omega Jeon put his scarf up this year?” Jimin asked sweetly.
The look on Seokjin’s face was priceless. “I had no idea…” Seokjin muttered mainly to himself.
“You know, you really should have taken my offer when it came to your brother. I could help you win the affections of omega Jeon, but that puts you in a tricky spot with your brother. I mean, two omega’s under one roof? Sounds ridiculous,” Jimin said, dropping the many hints that can drive Seokjin to change his mind.
While Jimin waits for Seokjin to answer, he could smell the presence of another beta approaching.
“Good day to you both, alpha Kim and Jimin,” Hoseok said brightly.
“Father, do you think it's a taboo to have two omegas under one roof?” Seokjin asked suddenly. The two betas could tell the alpha was stressed about this new information. Jimin’s plan was working.
“Oh believe it's true! The whole town’s talking about it,” Jimin said. “Is it true father? Are people talking about it?” Seokjin asks desperately.
“Ah yes it would appear so. You should know it’s taboo to have two omegas under one roof. Not only is one family, but one is also a considered mate. You should be careful about that kind of combination,” Hoseok said.
Seokjin has many expressions on his face. He then huffs and walks away.
“I am going to confess my sins after all of this blows over,” Jimin sighs out loud.
Yoongi could see Taehyung among the crowd of people. He was curious about the omegas thoughts. Will he put his scarf up with the other omegas? Will he obey his brother? Yoongi had no clue.
His wolf was hurting every single minute thinking about the last interaction he had with Taehyung. He was at the point of desperation.
He never wanted his alpha to feel this way.
Alpha Seokjin passed by Yoongi with a grunt, but his scent told him that he was worried. Yoongi wondered what the hell the alpha could possibly be worried about. That man’s confidence is so overwhelming it makes it hard to be in the same space with the alpha.
Then he saw it.
He notices at the last second, Taehyung moves towards the section of scarfs that are being hung. His heart picks up speed and he knows he has to prove himself worthy of Kim Taehyung’s hand in mating.
Yoongi took a deep breath. He was sure he could beat Seokjin at the race and with a new wave of confidence, he made his way over to the starting line.
He came up to many different alphas and a few betas that were participating in the race. Yoongi knew that he was going to give it his best shot. He sees Seokjin walk up to the line and the alpha is full of determination.
Yoongi swallowed. He has to beat the alpha.
It’s what he tells himself once the gun fires it’s shot into the air.
The first thing Yoongi feels is the cool crisp air that blows past his cheeks. His horse was running like his life depended on it. He could smell other wolves next to him and behind him. Only one wolf mattered. And his fiery scent was up ahead.
Yoongi knew the layout of the race pretty well. He made sure to practice with his horse a few weeks before the race. Yoongi focused his eyes on the path in front of him and the fiery scent that led the way. He knew he was catching up to the alpha once the scent became sour. Yoongi used this chance to gain momentum and speed up with one kick to the horse.
In one swift move, Yoongi passed Seokjin.
Yoongi grinned to himself, he just had to keep going. Just two more turns and he will gain victory in grabbing his omegas scarf. Two more turns. Two more turns…
He reached the first turn. He could sense the other alphas approaching and quick. He could practically taste the different alphas scents around him. One of them being Seokjin’s smokey scent. Yoongi made the turn just in time, but the last turn was a quick one. He had to make sure he wouldn’t fuck it up. Seokjin was basically behind him, Yoongi only had one shot. He had to make it..
“No!” He heard Seokjin yell as Yoongi made the turn and headed straight towards the scarfs. He had to pick the one that smelled the sweetest to him.
However, things took a slight turn. Once he came closer to the line of scarfs, he accidentally grabbed Omega Jeongguk’s scarf. Yoongi didn’t realize it until it was too late. He could smell only Jeongguk’s warm milk and cream scent. His cheeks flushed in embarrassment, and as he climbed off of his horse he tried to look for his omega.
But Taehyung was nowhere to be found.
“Congratulations alpha Min Yoongi! You won the race and omega Jeon Jeongguk’s scarf!” One of the townsfolk cheered. Yoongi was staring at the piece of cloth, hardly hearing what anyone was saying until someone grabbed his wrist. Yoongi snapped up and he saw the owner of the scarf smiling at him.
“You don’t have to try and pursue me alpha Min. I know you meant to grab omega Taehyung’s scarf. I will quietly reject your win if you keep going after the one omega that you want,” Jeongguk whispered to Yoongi.
Yoongi smiled at the young omega. “I apologize for grabbing your scarf as well. I will make sure to pursue the one that I want. Thank you omega Jeongguk,” Yoongi responded.
“Hold on just a minute!” Yoongi could hear Seokjin yell from a distance. The alpha stomped up to the two, fuming with jealousy and rage.
“Alpha Min, I wish for you to give up the scarf of omega Jeon Jeongguk, and place it in my care,” Seokjin breathed out heavily. “Well,” Yoongi began to say until a better idea popped up in his head, “I might consider giving up the scarf, as long as you’ll allow me to court you brother.”
“What?! How could you possibly do that to me?” Seokjin shrieked loudly. “Alpha Seokjin.. remember what I told you,” Yoongi hears Jimin say as the young beta walks up to the trio. Yoongi wondered what Jimin was talking about, but he had no time to ask because Seokjin’s scent turned bitter. His nostrils flared at the reaction. Jimin snickered beside Yoongi and he began to speak, “Alpha Seokjin, maybe you should consider giving alpha Min an answer.. and ask nicely.”
Seokjin watched Jimin with a fiery gaze- he was not ready to give up a fight. Yoongi watched in slow motion Jeongguk grab the scarf out of Yoongi’s hand and give it to Seokjin. “Here,” Jeongguk said while giving Seokjin a small smile, “You may have it, as long as your brother gets courted as well.”
Seokjin gapped at the omega; he was practically giving himself to Seokjin. Yoongi smiled at this interaction
“Well, do you say we have a truce?”
The sun was shining brightly on the first day of courting.
Yoongi waited in front of the same cottage that housed the omega he truly wanted. Jimin was waiting nearby with his carriage, ready to take the two out for a nice ride. Yoongi was nervous but he was also really excited. His alpha was howling and jumping around, eager to his intended mate.
As if the omega magically heard his wolf, Taehyung emerged from the cottage, along with Seokjin. The alpha looked distressed while the omega was happily walking towards Yoongi. The two smiled at each other- finally they can begin with the courting process.
“As the alpha of the Kim household… I- uh- I allowed alpha Min Yoongi to court my brother,” Seokjin managed to say without stuttering too much.
Taehyung smiled and leaned in to hug Yoongi. But that was cut off due to Jimin yelling at them, “No touching until you are mated! You two need to court and then be mated! No touching if you please!”
Taehyung stopped what he was doing and looked down. Yoongi only laughed at the two climbed onto the carriage and thus began a new journey for both of them.
While Jimin drove the carriage, Yoongi and Taehyung made small talk out of enjoying each other’s company for the first time in a while.
It completely felt like things were back to normal.
Jimin made sure that the two would not break the rules of the courtship. However, Yoongi had an idea pop into his head once Jimin allowed him and Taehyung to walk on the pathway. Yoongi hopped down from the carriage and walked around the vehicle just to stand next to the smiling omega.
“I wonder when Jimin will leave us so that we can continue what we used to do in the fields,” Yoongi asked Taehyung the moment they were farther than the carriage. “Oh be quiet alpha Min. What if Jimin hears you?” Taehyung asked with a smile hanging on his lips.
Yoongi smirked to himself, “I can finally court you, sue me. I’m happy.”
“I agree. Though I wasn’t too happy that you grabbed omega Jeon’s scarf instead of mine..” Taehyung replied with a pout.
“It wasn’t intentional. I was aiming for your scarf, please forgive me?” Yoongi asked as he tried to reach for Taehyung’s hand. “Hey! No touching you two!” Yoongi hears Jimin yell from behind.
Yoongi began laughing to himself, as did Taehyung.
The intended mated couple kept walking, until Yoongi spotted two bicycles leaning against the wall on their pathway. “Hey Taehyung?” Yoongi finds himself asking the male omega, to which he got a ‘hmm?’ in return. “Can you ride a bike?” Yoongi asked.
“Um, yes? Why are you asking me this?” Taehyung replied.
“Come,” Yoongi said excitedly as he grabbed Taehyung’s warm hand and ran towards the bicycles. Yoongi could hear Jimin’s yelling but quite frankly he doesn’t give a damn about anything. All he cares about is the warmth of Taehyung’s hand as they run towards the bicycles and they both are laughing at each other, knowing Jimin is gonna have their asses for not listening.
Again, Yoongi’s does not give a damn.
When Yoongi and Taehyung make it far into the countryside, they are both panting but with smiles on their faces.
“I can’t believe we rode the bikes all this way just to get away from Jimin… alpha Min you are from another world,” Taehyung spoke breathlessly.
“You could say that… I know that it is proper to call each other omega Kim and alpha Min, but when it is just the two of us we are equals. I see you as Taehyung, a beautiful omega who caught my eye the moment I first saw you. I’ve waited so long to finally mate you, and it was a process, however I wouldn’t ask for it any other way. Kim Taehyung, I’m pretty sure I’m in love with you, and if you’ll have me, I’d like to mate you as soon as possible,” Yoongi spoke slowly.
Taehyung’s eyes widened at the confession; tears forming while his scent bloomed in happiness.
“Alpha Min… I can’t imagine anyone else accepting me as their equal. I think I’m in love with you too, and I can’t wait until we are mated to start our life together. Min Yoongi, I accept your proposal,” Taehyung responded with a big boxy smile.
Yoongi smiled with his gums showing and all. His own scent mixed well with Taehyung's honey scent.
The air was heavy with the smell of possible rain, but it could not ruin this perfect moment. Yoongi was finally getting the omega that he wanted, alpha brothers be damned. It was only weeks later after the mating ceremony where Jimin came forward and confessed something.
“Hoseok Jeongguk and I may have conspired against alpha Kim,” Jimin said in a whisper, making sure Taehyung who was nearby would not hear.
“What do you mean by ‘conspire against?’” Yoongi asked.
“I may have swayed alpha Kim’s thought process and told him it was considered a sort of taboo to have two omegas in the household. If alpha Kim had wanted to court omega Jeon, he would also have to deal with his brother’s way of running the home. It was something alpha Kim could not deal with. So when you grabbed omega Jeon’s scarf, it was intentional. We only wanted omega Kim and you to be happy. So we conspired. I hope you can forgive my sins,” Jimin explained.
Yoongi was speechless. So all this time Jimin, Hoseok, and Jeongguk conspired against alpha Kim in order to help him and Taehyung out? It must have been hell to convince a stubborn alpha like Seokjin to believe in such a taboo.
“Oh man Jimin… You guys went through all that trouble? Jimin you don’t have to apologize, I was trying to prove I was a worthy alpha of Taehyung’s hand anyways… I appreciate the effort in helping though, I am forever in your debt,” Yoongi said, a soft gummy smile appeared on his face.
“Still, we should have included you. I am happy you get a chance to be happy with this omega, treat him well,” Jimin said.
“I will,” Yoongi responded. He will be forever grateful for everything that has happened. It may have been a tragedy that forced him to leave Seoul, but it was certainly worth every bit of happiness he deserved. Especially with the prettiest omega he’s ever laid eyes on.
Years later Yoongi tells Seokjin the truth about the races and the two fight about it for awhile and both alpha’s had to be reprimanded by Taehyung and Jeongguk, but that leads to a whole other story.
