Chapter Text

“Bye Bell! Seeya later!” Yuna called from the couch as you made your way out of the apartment.

“Goodbye! I’ll be coming home with Shouta!” You responded before shutting the door.

The light spring breeze tousled your hair as you strode down the sidewalk pushing Rose’s stroller. The eight-month-old was asleep, as per usual. Your daughter really took after her father in that way. You thought it was adorable. And it surely saved you and Shouta some sleep, to not wake up to crying all throughout the night.

You decided to walk the whole way to U.A., swiping your guest ID card at the door. The halls of one of Japan’s finest hero academies were nearly empty, since classes were still in session. You were a little early for lunch. Good, I’m right on time.

You made your way to your husband’s homeroom class and stopped outside the door to unbuckle little Rose from her stroller and pick her up. Shouta’s muffled voice could be heard coming from the other side of the wall. You knocked on the door, a smile already tugging at your lips.

“Yes, this is Class…” A tall, broad teen with glasses stood confused in the doorway, looking between your face and the baby at your hip. Well it’s not every day a famous ex-villain drops into your high school classroom with a small child...

You smiled at the now startled boy, who now resembling a cornered animal… that might slam the door in your face.

“Hello! Is this the class Aizawa teaches? I came for lunch, but it seems that I’m a bit early.” you say innocently, as the blue-haired student backs away from the door, and you get a clear view of a shocked Aizawa Shouta standing at the podium in front of the room.

His shock faded into a blush as he cleared his throat. My darling is so cute! You walked straight to the front of the classroom, aware that all of the students were staring at you and whispering.

“Class… this is my wife, Belladonna- “at this point, Rose decided to wake and make some baby noises as she recognized her dad and reached for him.

“And this is my daughter… Rose.”

Shouta smiled and took the baby from you. There were some audible “awww’s” from the class. Though, a blonde kid with spiky hair looked unimpressed, and small boy with purple bubbles on his head was still staring at you and… is he drooling!?

“You have a couple minutes before lunch. You’re free to leave or stay if you have questions for my wife, who is also a pro-hero, since she took the time to come here and visit.”

His face darkened and his voice took on a serious, almost mocking, tone.

“But be respectful students… she is the one who grades your exams…”

You know his threat has a second meaning. Don’t bring up her past as a villain, even though everyone is always curious.

The same boy that opened the door for you nearly flew out of his seat, hand raised.

“Mister Aizawa! Is that not against school policy for someone else besides the teacher to-“

“Would you sit down and shut up for once, Iida? I told you to be respectful.” Your husband replied, monotone, as Rose tugged on his hair. You stifled a laugh as the boy shrunk back into his seat, defeated.

The bell rang for lunch, but many of the students stayed: staring at you, fawning over the baby, and gawking at seeing their teacher’s soft side. You were starting to match names to faces. It was true, you did help your husband grade papers and homework, as you were still on maternity leave from VIRA. Splitting the work gave you two more time to spend together.

It turned out that being used to chronic sleep deprivation and having acquired the patience required to patrol made Shouta exceptionally capable at taking care of a baby. You had to admit, you were a bit wary at first, considering his standoff-ish and workaholic personality. But he had taken to fatherhood with passion: taking a couple months off of work for paternity leave, cutting his patrol hours, and being absolutely in love with the baby the two of you had made. And loving and supporting her mother as well. He would’ve taken off more time but you insisted he returned to U.A. You knew how much his students meant to him, and how much they needed him.

“Mister Aizawa, ribbit!, how come this is the first time we’ve gotten to see your family?”

“Yeah, why have you not invited me to your classroom before, darling?” You kissed him on the cheek, and he managed to both look embarrassed and pout at you at the same time.

“I… I like to keep my personal, work, and hero lives separate” he mumbled.

“Nah, he’s just shy! That’s why I snuck up on him today!” you giggled. The truth was, he was still scared of you being a target, even though you were clear with the law. He worried all the time. When you were out with the baby alone… the fact that everyone in the hero community knew you were his wife… that meant the villains must know too. And your husband had made himself a lot of enemies.

Eventually all of the students left so they would have time to eat, and so did your family. You had lunch together as he grumbled about your surprise visit, and you just laughed.

You waited for the end of the school day in the teachers’ lounge, grading papers and saying hello to your friends as they came and went. Rose played with some toys or bounced on your lap.

“Alright Bell, we can head home now. Shouta put his hands on each side of the desk you sat at. You twisted around and he pecked you on the lips… then kissed you again. He tasted like coffee. You must already be forgiven for what you pulled today. Shouta moved and you got up. He startled you by pulling you close. First into a hug, then running his hands up and down your sides before bringing your lips close again.

“Darling, aren’t we in the teachers’ lounge?” you pull back slightly, breath still mixing together.

“But there’s no one else here, is there?” He whispered before taking your face in his hands and bringing your lips together again. You wrapped your arms around his neck as he moved his hands to your hair and lower back. A couple chaste kisses turned into a nip on your lower lip, and you let him slide his tongue into your mouth as you pulled at soft, black hair. Only as you let a moan slip out did you hesitate and pull back from soft, wet lips.

Okay, a little too much on the PDA… someone could walk in any second…

Shouta seemed to get it without you having to say anything. He kisses you on the forehead.

“I love you, my little kitten.”

“I love you too, darling.” You respond with a kiss on the cheek.

“We’re back sis!” Shouta called as you made your way through the front door.

Something smells delicious! Before inspecting the source, you went to put Rose in her crib, as she had fallen asleep again on the walk home.

Yuna ran out from one of the guest rooms (now her room), wearing an emerald long sleeve top (it was always long sleeves with her) with a low-cut front and a black miniskirt.

“Dinner is getting ready in the slow cooker! It’ll be another two hours or so!” She rushed to zip up her boots and grab her purse and jacket.

“I have a double shift- I’ll be back late tonight.” She told Shouta as he wandered into the kitchen to check out the source of the smell.

“Thanks for making dinner Yuna… but honestly do you own anything… warm?” He didn’t have to spell it out.

“I get more tips this way! And before you say anything- I’m saving up so yes, I need them! Even though I’m a freeloader!”

“You’re not a freeloader! Bye!” You sneak in as Yuna shuts the door.

You were making your wedding registry when Shouta dropped the bomb.

“We should probably invite my sister to the wedding too, Bell.” Just like that! Your had nearly choked on the herbal tea you were drinking (limited caffeine… baby and all).

“Your what!?”

“My sister, Yuna. I’ll have to call her to track down her address for the card though. She’s constantly moving. I think she’s still in America right now…” he had looked up and scratched his chin in thought, like he was just wondering what to have for breakfast and not telling me he had living family. He responded that they weren’t very close. Only called on the holidays and whatnot.

“Have you even told her about me yet!?”

Shouta averted his eyes.

“In my defense… I didn’t tell anyone about you.”

Fair enough.

Yuna had chewed. Him. Out. You could hear her voice on the other side of the phone as he held it away from his ear. The next thing you knew, you were picking her up from the airport.

You could tell that your fiancé’s sister was related to him, but as soon as she opened her mouth, your theory faded. Yuna was peppy and loud, like a pop song, while Shouta was a classical ballad. Yuna told you everything you had realized you wanted to know in record time, over tea.

The siblings were the first in their family to become heroes. But Yuna, the younger, had studied abroad, always looking for an adventure. Not unlike how Shouta patrolled the streets at night looking for trouble. They were descended from families of sight or other sensory related quirks. Yuna’s quirk was simply and appropriately called “Blind”, and her hero name had been Medusa. She could blind anyone who made eye contact with her for up to twenty seconds, including multiple people. Having an extremely powerful quirk, she had been a successful hero for a few years- constantly changing locations and outfits so that villains didn’t catch on and avoid eye contact. But one day she was recognized… and subsequently she retired. You hadn’t noticed the prosthetic immediately, but she liked to keep it covered up anyway.

The two didn’t argue like you thought they would, thankfully. They just simply weren’t the best of friends due to mismatching personalities and distance.

You and your new sister-in-law clicked. After the wedding, Shouta and yourself decided to extend an offer for her to stay with you, as you got lonely when Shouta was at work and could use help with the baby once she was born. Yuna, having grown fond of you as well, gladly took your offer, keeping you company during the day and working as a barista at night. She was very excited about becoming an auntie.

Your wedding was small and private, just the way you wanted it. When you were looking at decorations with, you came across red roses, and they reminded you of Shouta’s eyes. Apparently in the West, roses, especially red ones, were a symbol of love.

You remembered the first time Shouta had brought you home flowers, right after he proposed to you. They were roses. You chose them immediately, the florist simply nodding. You chose your baby’s name that day as well.

*******

You wandered into the kitchen as well. While you looked at the stove, Shouta wrapped his arms around your waist, and rested his head on your shoulder. You reached behind you to run your fingers through messy waves.

“There’s no papers left to grade…” you heard a murmur next to your ear.

“Hmm?”

“Not today. There’s two hours left until dinner. And Rose is asleep.”

Ohhh.

You smile and giggle as your husband kisses you on the cheek and then nuzzles at your neck, tickling you.

“I love you so much Bell.”

“I love you too, Shouta. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” You meant it.

You steal a kiss as he releases you, right before he takes your hand and leads you towards your bedroom.
