When Cruel Meets Kind

Chapter Text

To start off the day, Sakura was in the medic ward, checking the wounds of several ninja's. Nothing too serious, just minor injuries here and there. But this was her sort of mental punishment.

She and Kisame had managed to make it back to the village a week ago. Though it wasn't exactly easy, the two of them were being chased the entire time. They were lucky that Kiba and his dog had caught wind of them, and had gone to Tsunade. If they had reached the village with enemies on their heels, it wouldn't have ended well.

Sakura would have been reprimanded more than she had been. At least with how it went down, they had gotten away with minimal injuries and the enemies barely made it out alive. But the real problem was when people realized that Kisame wasn't under any genjutsu anymore.

That was when things really got her in trouble.

Tsunade had planned to put him back under, and Kisame made it very clear that he wasn't going to let that happen. He nearly got killed at one point because of how violent he got. But that was why he had Sakura; who had managed to calm him down. She was even able to assure Tsunade that he wasn't going to run away. That he didn't have anywhere else to go- as if he wanted to hear that bit.

After a lengthy debate on the matter, the Hokage finally agreed to what Sakura thought was the best plan.

Kisame wouldn't have to be put under the jutsu again, nor would he be executed. So long as Sakura was the one that took care of him- and made sure he was no longer as destructive as he claimed he still was -he could stay in the village. As one of them in training.

Needless to say, he didn't exactly enjoy that last bit. But he had nowhere else to go, and they both knew it. So he chose to grudgingly stay here. According to him, it was worth it. Mainly because Sakura was here.

Yeah, she tended to punch him when that sort of thing came up. Mostly because she didn't need to hear things like that. Or have others hear it. It was rather unclear.

But the reason she was taking care of those that were injured or got injured on missions more so than she usually was, was because Sakura felt like it was necessary. A way of saying that she was sorry, and that she was looking out for everyone from the village.

It was the least she could do for being gone for so long, and never noticed that Kisame was no longer under the jutsu. Not until it was too late.

That, and the more selfish excuse was that she was trying to avoid Kisame. He was going on about wanting to take her out to that dinner the two of them had agreed to. Though it wasn't her fault that she had agreed! It was in the heat of the moment. She thought that they were going to get hurt a lot more, and that he would forget about it after they recuperated in the village. Well, it turned out that he hadn't forgotten, and was insisting that they do it. He even liked to taunt her about it, saying that she needed to prove that she was still a good kisser.

And while the taunting was working, Sakura didn't want to fess up to it. And so, that was why she was here. Hiding out to avoid things that she didn't want to deal with. At least not at the moment. Plus, it helped her get her thoughts in order about the entire situation. And what that situation would imply for the rest of their lives. Or maybe she was just overthinking it. That could be possible. Sakura was known to do that sometimes.

Continuing to check on all of the patients here, Sakura didn't seem to notice the exact person her thoughts were consumed with. The tension in the room seemed to grow stronger the instant he walked in- but the girl didn't notice.

Humming to herself, the pinkette never realized Kisame was there; until he began speaking.

"Kiddo, I've been looking everywhere for you. That blonde said you would be here. You know you can't avoid me, right?" He spoke, causing the girl to jump and spin around to face him.

It was rare that Kisame ever came to the medical ward. Even rarer that he said he was looking for her. At least not without sounding like he was sarcastic.

Furrowing her eyebrows as a way to show she had been spooked, Sakura turned back around to begin rubbing some salve against one of the new ninjas ankle. They had sprained it, so she needed to use something to make it easier to walk on. Using jutsu all the time wasn't the solution for everything, after all.

"Don't sneak up on me. I thought you figured that part out a long time ago, Kisame," Sakura said, smiling towards the young kunoichi as they moved their foot around. It seemed like it was better now. Which was good. They could go on their way now.

"Yeah, but you won't. You know that and I know that."

"See, now you're just being full of yourself. Sure you don't want me to punch you to remind you who you're talking to?"

She could hear him chuckling then as the kunoichi smiled their thanks to Sakura. Right before sliding out of the bed and limping away. They didn't really need to stay in the ward, after all. Their injury wasn't much.

But that did leave Sakura with Kisame for a couple of feet. She couldn't just leave either, it would make it obvious she was trying to avoid him.

"Listen, I know you're avoiding me because of what I said while trying to get to the village," Kisame started off, already making Sakura roll her eyes. But he didn't seem like he was going to let her talk. "And if you're acting like this, I guess that means you don't want to. Which is fine. I can always just continue saying that you're a horrible kisser if anything."

Oh now he was trying to rile her up. They both knew it was working. Completely unfair, really.

"Kisame-"

"No, really, kiddo. It's fine! You're young, you don't need to worry about going to dinner with me. I'll be fine. We can pretend I never asked," even though he was glossing over the fact that they weren't that far apart in age. He was glossing over a lot of facts, actually.

He wasn't even trying to pretend like he was upset. He was literally just pulling her leg, trying to instigate her into agreeing to go out with him to dinner.

Now that she knew what he was trying to do, Sakura turned away from the man and advanced towards her next injured customer. Heavier footsteps behind her signaled that Kisame was following her. Just like she knew that he would.

"I mean, it's possible you'll embarrass and shame me for the rest of my life to the point that I don't want to be seen by anyone ever again. It could happen. But maybe it won't happen. We don't know, right?" And that was the icing on the cake for her.

Spinning around on her heel, the surprise of it made Kisame step back a couple of times. There was a fire in those teal eyes, just the expression that Kisame enjoyed seeing.

He would love to see it more often, if he was able to. But Sakura didn't need to know that. Not yet.

"You know what, if it'll shut you up, fine. We will go on a dinner date. Will you be happy then and stop being such a jerk?" Sakura growled, stomping her foot then.

Sakura growled, stomping her foot then.

Her words seemed to have shocked Kisame. He hadn't been expecting her to snap at him, she supposed. And that was good. She didn't want him trying to say anything to ruin this moment. Even though she must have realized what she had said.

That she had agreed to go on a date with him. His plan had worked. And he realized it at the same time she did, as a grin grew on his face.

"So you do want to go with me!"

"Wait no, that's not what I meant and you know it-!"

"Nope, too late, kiddo. I'll expect you at the ramen shop tonight, alright?"

Of all the places? He wanted to go there? Seriously? He must have known she was just growing more and more irritated the longer he talked. And that she was going to try and snap at him for what he was saying. He had to know that, right?

Even as she tried to argue, to contest this, the sharkman was already beginning to walk out of the ward. As if he wasn't going to respond to her. And he probably wouldn't. After all, she was yelling at him to come back and talk to her. But he merely waved her off without a care in the world.

Grumbling, she returned to her inspection duties, taking notice of the people that were watching her with little grins on their lips. Now she was embarrassed, cheeks beginning to brighten to a rosy red color.

"Shut up! Don't look at me like that," Sakura said, hastily walking away in embarrassment. As she was leaving, she could hear people chuckling and making comments about youthful love.

Just things that she didn't really want to hear at the moment. Or at all, really. It was embarrassing to have people know things like that about her personal life.

But as she walked back to her house, thinking about the 'date' that Kisame wanted, she could feel her heart trying to flutter. Was she... excited? She had to be, right? That was why it felt like her heart was going to pound its way out of her chest. It had to be.

"Stop acting like such a girl, Sakura. You've been on dates before. This isn't the first one you've been on, and it won't be the last!" The pinkette commented, frowning at herself. She was acting like she used to, back in the day she had fallen for Sasuke.

But this as a different time, a different place. She had gotten over her silly childhood crush on the ravenette. She didn't have a reason to act like this.

Unless she had strong feelings for Kisame? But that couldn't be possible, right? The entire thought was absurd.

Although the more she thought about it, the less weird it seemed. They had been through a lot together. Was it really that bad to think that she wasn't attracted to him? They had learned so much about each other. And as far as she knew, this was the only time he had ever wanted to take someone out on a date. That made her heart swell just a bit more.

Or maybe she was just over thinking this again, and he just wanted to celebrate the fact that they were alive. Yeah. Yeah, that seemed way more reasonable of a Kisame reaction than asking her out on a date with the intention of having romantically inclined feelings towards her. Yep. Totally.

God, she needed to stop thinking about all of this romantic stuff. It was starting to make her head seriously hurt. Maybe a good nap would take her mind off of it? Or even a bath? Both options sounded like great ideas. When she got to her house, she would have to decide.
-
It was well in the afternoon when Sakura was next seen leaving her house. She had decided to bathe, that much was obvious because of how bright and bouncy her hair had become. Though she was wearing another outfit similar to what she usually wore. For some reason, she just couldn't break the habit of being battle ready and medically ready. Living the young life of a ninja, she didn't really have a choice, right?

She had to be ready for any kind of fight. Even if she was on a break and going out to dinner with Kisame.

Speaking of that sharkman, where was he? He was supposed to come and meet her at the house, right? Or had he said that they would meet there? Crap, she didn't remember.

She was usually far better than this. How could she have forgotten what he had told her not even half a day ago? Now she was beginning to stress herself out again. That was why she had taken that bath in the first place.

She needed to calm down and get it together. Think about what she was actually supposed to be doing.

Going out to dinner with someone she had been working side by side with for months now wasn't so bad. It was sort of... expected, right? Because they were great friends. They had become friends because of their adventures and missions together. It made sense that they might decide to go out and eat. And also possibly develop feelings for each other. Yeah, that tends to happen, right?

People aren't like Naruto. They don't know when love or romantic feelings like it will pop up. Kisame must have acquired those feelings; and maybe she did as well? Only time would tell, as that saying usually went.

"There you are, kiddo. I've been looking for your house for a long time, jeez," Kisame's voice rang out from several feet behind her.

Whipping around out of surprise, Sakura blinked those teal eyes at him. That was not what she was expecting. She had assumed that she would have to go to the ramen shop all on her own. Who knew that Kisame was going to show up here, and guide her to the shop? Or had that been his plan all along?

"You should have known what my house looked like, Kisame," Sakura remarked, returning to her calm behavior.

"Yeah but I forgot. You don't talk about where you live very often. But, I did remember that you liked having flowers outside of your porch!"

The confused look on Sakura's face was what stopped Kisame from talking again. Had he done something wrong? Her house did have the flowers on the porch, right?

"Uh, Kisame, that's Ino's house. Remember? She's the one that likes all those flowers and has a flower shop."

She also didn't want to mention that he probably did see flowers at her porch. Ino dropped them off sometimes and Sakura often hung them up for people to see and love. She had recently pressed some of the dried flowers that had been hanging up outside for a while now. She just wanted to see if Kisame knew better than what she had said.

It took him a couple of seconds to even begin to speak again, but when he came up with a response, Sakura could see the grin growing on his face.

"You cheeky liar. You did have flowers here. I know you did. I was here yesterday and there were flowers. You moved them."

So he had realized it. It took him a bit longer than she would have liked, but hey. At least he was remembering things.

Grinning, the girl walked over to the sharkman, wrapping an arm around one of his own as she said, "Did I? Or are you just trying to stalk me? Cause if you are, that's a little creepy. Even for you, Kisame."

The sputtering that came out of his lips made the girl laugh then. He clearly wasn't expecting her to not be so serious. That was good. And fine. He didn't know a lot of things about her so far. Maybe that was subject to change. Who knows? Not them, that was for sure.

"Let's go, come on.You wanted to go to a ramen shop, right? I'm hungry, so you should do the respectable thing and feed both of us."

Now he was trying to tell her that he wasn't going to do that. That he shouldn't have to pay for a girl that was capable of paying for the both of them. If anything, she should be the one to buy both of them food. That only got a response of, "If I feel like it, I will."

-

Having made it to the ramen shop, Sakura and Kisame were actually having a good time. The pinkette had forgotten all about the fact that she had been worried that this was an actual date. Now, she was just happy that she was here with a friend. One that didn't try to bring their other friends with them. It was something that she hadn't realized was a problem for her until now.

No one else could interrupt them- aside from when they wanted to get more food. But that was valid, and Sakura didn't mind it.

The two had gone through at least two bowls of ramen each, a feat that surprised Kisame. He hadn't expected Sakura to be able to eat something like that so quickly. She must have been starving. Or just hungry to fill the silence when it came.

Silence didn't often come, but when it did, she seemed to forget that she had been eating previously. They had been talking about mundane things. Things that, if someone was going to overhear them, it wouldn't be worrisome at all. That was what often happened anyway.

Who even talked about serious matters in a ramen shop? Probably someone like Naruto and Kakashi. That made sense, weirdly enough. But in all seriousness, no one should talk about serious matters in the open air. Anyone, even a spy, would be able to listen to them and react accordingly.

"So, why did you decide to become a medical ninja? With Tsunade teaching you everything she knows, you could have been anything you wanted." Kisame questioned, earning Sakura's full attention to him. She hadn't been expecting that.

"Well, when I was younger, I got to see a lot of people get hurt. Especially when they were trying to protect me, or others around me. It... well, I didn't like it at all. I felt like I was useless, like I couldn't do anything. I was smart, sure, but other than that I couldn't really do anything. So when Lady Tsunade came around, I decided to try and be better. Being a medic while also knowing how to defend myself would keep my teammates alive. And also keep me alive, should I get into trouble like we did on the road here. No one ever expects a medic to fight back, right?"

That got the response she was looking for. A laugh. Echoing and loud, just like she knew he was going to do.

"Shit, I guess you're right! I can't believe I never thought of that," Kisame stated, making the girl roll her eyes. He was still in mid laugh, and was making a bit of a scene cause of how loud he was.

But if she was being honest, she didn't mind it. Actually, it was nice to have someone loud again. Like Naruto, but she knew that he knew better. Could control himself better. It was nice.

When the waiter came over to ask them if they wanted to continue eating or to get to paying, the two of them decided to call it quits for the night. After all the shop was going to be closing soon. It was best that they start packing up to get home.

"So, you still want me to pay the bill for us?" Kisame teased, giving her that grin that squeezed her heart. In a good way, of course.

"Nah, you know what? I've got this," Sakura responded, grinning in response as she pulled out her wallet.

Now if there was anyway you could surprise someone, it seemed that this was the way for it to happen. The look on his face when she gave the waiter money- and a tip -was outright hilarious.

"You should see the look on your face, Kisame. I thought you were going to be happy that someone that had more money than you could pay for something that you ate?" She teased, grinning at the sharkman again.

Of course, when she said that, he seemed to snap out of it. A grin formed on his lips as well as he leaned towards the girl for a brief moment. Sakura didn't flinch or back away though. She had no reason to. Unlike the other people that would demand he leave them be, she didn't care. She trusted him entirely. Far better than anyone else would.

"Well kiddo. I'll let you pay for me this time. But next time I will be the one to buy both of us the food."

"Is that a promise? I guess I'll have to hold you up to that, Kisame." Sakura hummed, slowly getting to her feet. "We should get going. Can't stay for too long. It's getting really dark out."

As she said that, Kisame nodded and got to his feet. He was determined to be able to pay for the both of them the next time this happened. He had been joking, of course. But she took it seriously.

Thanking the waiter and the cook for serving them, the two said goodbye as well, and began walking back to Sakura's house. Though she had thought she would be making the journey on her own. She didn't mind the company that Kisame brought with him.

"Did you ever do anything fun as a kid, Kisame? Like, play with your friends and things?" She questioned, choosing to break the silence the best that she was able.

The question seemed to only bring more silence though. Something that she wasn't expecting. It was by the time that they reached her house again, that he chose to respond.

"I didn't really get to play around with a lot of friends. Didn't have any. I guess one of the things that I enjoyed doing was fishing a lot. Catch and release mostly," Kisame said, taking a couple steps to go up her porch to follow Sakura. "It was... pretty fun, I guess. Would have been more fun if I had someone with me."

So he liked fishing. That was interesting- but it also made sense. He grew up near the waters. He would be able to do that. She wouldn't really be able to do that. She didn't even know how to fish.

"Do you still remember how to do it? I've never fished before. You could always show me how! For when we get stuck somewhere that has water around." She stated, laughing a little then.

Kisame blinked his eyes then, staring at her in silence. Had she said something weird? All she had done was ask if he would teach her how to fish. Maybe he didn't remember how to do it. It had been a long time since he had done anything with fishing, right?

Lost in her thoughts, the pinkette didn't realize that Kisame got a couple steps closer. Daring to come closer than he had ever been before. Something she never thought he would do.

When he ran a finger slowly down her cheek, that was when Sakura brought herself out of her thoughts again. The moment she realized that he was so close, her cheeks began burning bright red. She hadn't been expecting that.

"Well, first lesson is that you have to set the bait. Like... dinner tonight. Consider that the bait, being cooked and prepared for a cute, little pink fish," he said, voice growing low as that finger crawled down to her chin, cupping it to tilt her head up towards Kisame, "So consider the bait set, since I've got your attention. Then, you have to leave the fish wanting more. So you bob that bait in front of them, tease them with something that they want."

Her heart was pounding. Her ears burning as she stared at Kisame with bated breath. His thumb was gently rubbing against her lip, as his other arm slowly wrapped around her waist. Was this all supposed to be a metaphor for the two of them? Her being the fish, and him being the bait? Is that what he was getting at?

"Like right now, you haven't taken your eyes off of my lips since I started talking about fishing," he teased, causing Sakura's eyes to widen when she realized this. "But unlike fishing, I'll give you the bait right now."

Before she could ask what that meant, Kisame's lips- the 'bait,' she presumed -were on hers. Something that took her by surprise. But she wasn't opposed to it. Not at all.

She had come to the realization while taking her bath, that she most certainly had feelings for Kisame. And this just proved that he did as well.

Feeling him starting to pull away, Sakura reached up to grab his shirt, bringing him close yet again. Encouraging him in to continuing. And he was more than willing to continue.

The grip on her waist seemed to tighten as he pulled her closer as her fingers reached up to grip those blue locks. The world seemed to go away in that moment, and before long, she could feel the door to her house being pressed up against her back.

There was fumbling for the doorknob, and then they were inside, shutting the door. Scrambling and shuffling ensued, trying to find the bedroom. Or the nearest flat surface.

Pulling back to breathe for just a moment, Kisame had the pinkette against one of the walls, sliding his fingers in and under her clothes. And she was beginning to do the same. Even as she was trying to bring both of them to the bed.

"So does this make me fish bait now?" Sakura teased as she pushed Kisame onto the bed, now sliding off his pants. She could feel the cool breeze on her skin, and that told her that she was practically naked. Now when had that happened? Her clothes were probably all over her living room right now. Whatever, it didn't matter. Especially when she heard Kisame guffawing.

He must have found her amusing.

"Shit, it makes you shark bait, kiddo," Kisame said, running his fingers down her back as she managed to take off the rest of his clothes. Now the two of them were just as naked. Now the real fun could begin. "And I guess that makes me the shark."

Well he wasn't wrong about that. He certainly was the shark. That made her the bait. She had hooked a shark. But he probably already guessed that and knew she was thinking about it.

"I guess you're right." Sakura stated, but after that, she chose to say nothing more. She was eager to get started.

Kisame seemed to be the same way, as he was grabbing onto her waist to try and guide her against what she could feel was his erection. Or, well, she should say- two erections?

It was no surprise to her that Kisame had two penises. He was a shark. Most fishes and snakes seemed to have dual shafts; to make sure that the female that they have sexual interactions with, would have babies. A lot of text book stuff that Sakura would know about, of course.

It also explained why he was so pompous a lot of the time. He wanted to show off his twin dick energy.

"You're distracted, Sakura. As much as I like seeing that, we kinda should continue."

That brought her out of it. Looking down at Kisame, she realized that her body had been hovering over the larger of the two penises. She must have been doing that for a couple of minutes; something that must have drove Kisame crazy with desire. She hadn't meant to do that for their first time, whoops.

"Right, sorry." Sakura said, shaking her head somewhat before she began doing what the two of them had intended to do.

Thankfully, both of them were rather aroused, and one of them was self lubricated enough to take the erection into her body. The next couple of hours seemed to go by in a blur, she couldn't get her brain to keep up with what was going on. She didn't even know if Kisame was in the same boat as her.

But she did know that at one point, they were back against one of the walls. She was pretty sure both of those penises found their way inside her at some interval. It was all happening in a blur though.

Only when the two had finally stopped when the sun came up, did she realize what had happened. Sakura, who had her head against Kisame's bare shoulder, had just finished having sex. Wow. That sure was something unexpected, wasn't it?

"Well, I can tell you now, sharkbait," Kisame started, causing the pinkette to open her eyes to look at him questioningly. "You're a hell of a good kisser."

In response, Sakura gave a little grunt before she playfully slugged his chest ever so lightly. "Yeah, and don't you forget it."

"Oh I won't. I intend to get more kisses from you though."

At that, Sakura rolled her eyes, but didn't deny that. "If you think you're up for it, buddy. We're gonna be going on a lot of dates."

He nodded at that at first. Until he realized that he was going to be going out a lot with her. And paying for some of those dates.

"Wait, no-"

"Nope, too late! You already agreed to it. Now we have to do it!" Well shit.
