Chapter 37: (Battle of Gods in) Chapter 30

Notes:

A/N: It's finally time! Battle of the Gods! How ironic that this chapter is coming out when all the Dragon Ball news is happening! XENOVERSE 3 IS REAL! I'm so excited! Sorry I haven't updated as much, as recently my dog had to be euthanized because she had cancer, which sucked and put me in a depressive state for a while, but on the bright side, I'm over it and I'm back! Enjoy this 5000 word chapter!

I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE CHARACTERS, PLACES, OR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY THAT APPEAR IN THIS STORY, EXCEPT ZERO NIGIRO AND THE HOSHIGAN. IF I DID, THIS WOULD BE AN ANIME, NOT A FANFIC.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly, I let everyone get over the shock of the metaphorical bombshell I dropped on them, as I turned and faced Beerus.

"If that is all, I'm making my exit!" Shenron shouts, rather hastily.

There's a moment of awkward silence, before I decide to take the initiative.

"Lord Beerus, if I may?" I ask, bowing slightly.

"Yes, what is it?" Beerus asks, clearly not amused by the numerous interruptions. "Whatever you're about to ask better not be some sort of diversion in order to get out of our fight."

I gulp, as the true realization sets in.

"...Lord Beerus, Before we fight, I ask that I speak with two people. Namely King Kai, and Master Roshi." I ask, performing a complete 90 degree bow.

"What do you need them for?" Goku asks, clearly already over the news I dropped on him, meanwhile Piccolo has collapsed in a chair, clearly in shock.

"I use the signature techniques they teach, but have never gotten permission to use them. Thus, before this battle that will most likely result in my loss, I plan on asking them for permission to use the Kamehameha, and the Kaioken." I explain, trying to not show nervousness.

"If it's to stop Beerus, you've got my approval." Roshi steps forward, clearly leering at me, but understanding how severe the situation is to let that cloud his judgement.

"[Yes, yes, you have my permission, now do what you have to!]"
I hear King Kai shout in my mind, his voice just as Nasally as I remember the show depicted him.

I nod, before looking towards Beerus.

"It's a shame I know I can't win, but I hope I can put up enough of a fight to entertain you." I say, putting Yamato in my inventory.

"Your existence puzzles me. Are you a Saiyan, or a Namekian?" Beerus asks, staring at me.

"I was a test tube baby. I was made to be a weapon by some… less than savory people, but I grew into my own person. And that's who I'm going to be. Someone who fights for what they believe in."

"And tell me, what DO you believe in?" Beerus asks, staring at me as I smile back.

"I believe in fighting for a better tomorrow. Fighting so the people I care about can wake up the next day with a smile on their face, and worry free. So that the next generations will never have to know War, Famine, Sadness, or Disease. THAT is what I stand for. And anyone who stands in my way of that goal will be trampled."

"An admirable goal, but ultimately naive." Beerus sighs at my small monologue, before beginning to hover into the sky. "Creation cannot exist without destruction. That is just the natural order of things."

"Then I say screw the natural order." I say, clenching my fists together, checking over my abilities. {Ultimate Arts} is nowhere near close enough to be able to use {Dragon Fist}. I can't use {Limitless} or {Hakai} without incurring Beerus's wrath, and really nothing else will help.

"You would defy fate so recklessly? In the face of a Destroyer no less?"

"Absolutely."

I suddenly had an idea, but there's no guarantee it'll work, so It'll be Plan B.

"In all honesty, I'm a little disappointed that I didn't figure out Super Saiyan 4 before having to fight you, but it is what it is." I shrug, before following Beerus into the sky.

"So, what makes you a 'Super Saiyan God'?" Beerus asks, looking me over. "I sense divinity in you, you're definitely no mortal, but what constitutes someone as a Super Saiyan God?"

"This." I say, allowing for my power to rise, my hair glowing before settling into a familiar red hue.

[{Super Saiyan God} Activated.]
[Applying {Henshin II} Bonuses.]

"This is a Super Saiyan God." I say, before turning down to the Z-Fighters. "If you want this form yourself, you have to do a complicated ritual. I'll show you how to do it once this is all over."

"Lord Beerus, I know you want to fight without consequences, so I have an offer to make you." I offer, reaching into my inventory and pulling out two wristbands.

"Another interruption? This had better be good, as I'm running out of patience."

"I apologize. All I ask is that you put this on." I say, tossing him one of the wristbands, as he looks it over. "That wristband is enhanced with magic and other things, so it won't break under intense pressure. The purpose of it is to prevent our fight from damaging the surroundings, so we can fight without consequences. It is only a prototype, however, so don't consider it a finished product."

"Oh? You're more prepared than I give you credit for. I hope your fighting skills are as well honed as your ingenuity." Beerus muses. "Shall we begin?"

[QUEST RECEIVED]
[Decisive Battle in Divine Company]
[Objective: Survive 15 Minutes against Beerus]
[Bonus Objectives: ?]
[Objective Rewards: You get to live.]
[Bonus Objective Rewards: ?]
[Failure: Erasure]
[Accept? (Y/N)]

I accept the quest while blanching at the stupid question, as I get into a fighting pose.

"Then show me what you've got." Beerus curls a finger at me, as I put my jacket back into my inventory and use {Superspeed} to dash towards him, slamming my elbow into his gut, sending him back a few meters.

"You're quite fast, but that's not going to be enough to topple me." He says, delivering a chop on my shoulder, dislocating it near instantly as I dash backwards with {Superspeed} and resetting it with a sickening pop.

"I could say the same." I grin nervously, as I dash forward again, using my {Martial Arts} skill to try and land a few blows on Beerus. Every palm strike from me is blocked by a forearm, every jab deflected, every punch redirected. I can't land a solid hit due to the sheer gap in our power.

"Let's turn it up a notch, huh?!" I shout, swapping {Superspeed} for {Speedforce}.

I manage to catch him off guard with this, the gap in speed turning towards my favor, as I land a combo move on him.

"WOLF FANG FIST!" I shout, managing to land the full attack, before shifting with my speed to continue. "Into… NEO WOLF FANG FIST!"

Beerus staggers back for a moment, smiling at this development, as he lets his power flare.

"You've exceeded my expectations. Truly, I implore you." Beerus muses with a smile. "However, it's time I make my own moves."

Beerus then charges up a large ball of energy above his head, throwing it downward at me as I charge up the familiar ball of energy between my hands.

"KA… ME… HA… ME… HAAAAAAA!"
I shout, letting loose the {Stardust Kamehameha} from my hands, blasting through the orb, as it explodes in front of me.

"You've done well, but this is where I have to end it." Beerus muses, as I whip around to catch his fist with my face, a barrage of fists flying at me, each reducing my HP below 0, only for {Fortune's Favor} to kick in.

I use {Speedforce} to slow down the blows, allowing me to use {Energy Shield} at the right time, giving me a perfect shield block, allowing me to slam into Beerus with a few I-Frames.

At the end of the I-Frames though, Beerus slams his tail against my gut at full force, sending me crashing back down to earth on an island nearby where Bulma's ship is cruising.

The impact against the island leaves a crater, as I feel the wind getting knocked out of my lungs, as I cough at the debris.

I look over towards the ship to see Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Gohan flying, holding the sides of the ship so as to not let it tip over due to the shockwaves kicking up waves in the ocean.

Beerus then rockets down, slamming both his feet into my gut again as he floats up, raising his hands to the sky, forming a massive energy orb above his head.

"It's time for this planet to be destroyed." Beerus demands, his eyes showing no sign of hesitation or doubt in his words. "You were a strong opponent, just not strong enough to satiate my hunger."

"No…" I grunt out, losing my grasp on the Super Saiyan God form. "This wont… END LIKE THIS!"

I stick out my right hand, propping myself up with my right arm, forcing the energy to flow through me, as I scream at the top of my lungs.

"KA….. ME…." I say, charging my signature attack into my one hand, as it's harder to concentrate, but I'm doing it. "HA…. ME….."

"Hakai." Beerus says, tossing the orb downwards.

"HAAAAAA!" I shout, throwing my hand forward as I feel my hair grow out, longer than it's ever been, as the band tying my hair back snaps, allowing my hair to flow freely.

[{One-Handed Kamehameha} SKILL UNLOCKED!]
[{Super Saiyan 3} Activated]
[{Henshin II} Bonuses applied.]

The Hakai Orb pushes through my beam, before I pump more and more energy into it, as my other hand taps into another power of mine.

"MAXIMUM OUTPUT! LAPSE BLUE!" I shout, as a large blue orb appears, redirecting the Hakai Orb upwards, sending it into space where it slowly begins to fizzle out.

{[NOTICE: LIMITLESS HAS REACHED LEVEL 75. REVERSAL RED UNLOCKED.]}

As Beerus watches the orb get sent into space, I dash forwards with my fist cocked back, as what feels like a puzzle piece slotting into place in my core, as I strike him, causing a burst of dark energy, as the words leave my lips before I even realize what I just did.

"BLACK FLASH!" I shout, the blow causing Beerus to double over, actually dealing a decent amount of damage to him, as a bruise starts to form where I hit him, becoming a noticeable deeper purple color.

"I'll give you some credit, Godling. You actually have more resilience and show more creativity than I thought! Redirecting my Hakai using an orb of concentrated gravity was intriguing!" Beerus exclaims, smiling. "You just keep pulling new techniques out of your pockets, which leaves me with this ultimatum."

"Which would be?" I ask, panting for air, trying to let {Meditation} keep up with me while I blow a strand of hair out of my face.

"Impress me properly. Show me a technique that will blow me away, either literally or figuratively, and I'll spare this planet."

"...Does it have to involve destroying, or can it be a mental technique?" I tentatively ask, as Beerus muses for a moment.

"Destruction is preferred, but you can show me a more mental technique, although it would require a higher bar of approval." Beerus concedes, staring into my eyes to make sure I understand the weight behind his words.

'So, in other words, prove my worth or die?' I think to myself, as I decide on what I want to show him.

"First of all, I want to apologize. I wasn't using my full arsenal at risk of aggravating you, due to one of my techniques in how it operates." I say, properly activating the neutral application of {Limitless} for the first time this fight.

I approach Beerus, before placing my palm before him.

"Try to touch my hand." I offer, as Beerus does so without care for consequences.

The more he pushes, the more he eventually slows down.

"A spatial manipulation barrier? I feel the rate at which I approach you gets slower and slower." Beerus mutters, before quirking an eyebrow at me. "If this is the technique you were going to show me, while this is interesting, I'm not impressed."

"Please hold on, Lord Beerus." I say, shaking my head at his response. "This is just the neutral application of the technique I call "{Limitless}". There are other usages to it."
"The first…" I start, creating an orb of Lapse Blue in my hands, as the longer I talk the further I float from Beerus, as we ascend further into the sky together. "Is called Lapse Blue. the amplified, negative-based application of the technique."

"Where are you going with this?" Beerus asks impatiently, arms folded.

"The second…" I continue, ignoring Beerus, as pausing to ask him to wait will just cause this to take longer. "Is called Reversal Red. the reverse, positive-based application of the technique."

"And this… is the resulting collision." I stick my arm out, extending it as I let the two orbs smash into each other, growing larger and larger, before muttering a phrase and flicking my fingers outwards.

"Hollow… Purple." I say, sending it towards Beerus, as he tries to block it with his hand, but suddenly moves out of the way.

"What…" Beerus asks, with shock on his face before he turns to me, eyes filled with curiosity "...was that?"

Before I even get a chance to respond, Beerus cuts me off.

"Send it towards me again." He demands, as I oblige, mixing the Reversal Red and Lapse Blue together, sending it at him, as he forces himself to stand in the way of the attack.

I then watch as Hollow Purple goes through Beerus, tearing his arm off completely as he watches in intense fascination.

"I see now why my Ultra Instinct kicked in, albeit for just a moment… Fascinating. An application of Gravity Manipulation in order to mimic the effects of a Black Hole…" Beerus smiles as Whis appears, tapping on Beerus's wound and causing it to fully regenerate.. "Thank you Whis."

"You're welcome my lord." Whis states tapping on me also, as I drop {Super Saiyan 3}.

[HP/MP/AURA RESTORED TO FULL HP. COOLDOWNS RESET.]

"So… does that mean I've satisfied your conditions, Lord Beerus?" I ask, nerves causing what feels like a lump in my throat as I ask the million dollar question.

"I'm the God of Destruction, not the God of Liars." Beerus hums, turning his head away. "So, yes. You've allowed earth to live. For now."

[QUEST COMPLETED!]
[Decisive Battle in Divine Company]
[Objective: Survive 15 Minutes against Beerus]
[Bonus Objectives: Land a significant blow on Beerus (COMPLETE!)]
[Objective Rewards: You get to live.]
[Bonus Objective Rewards: God of Destruction's Approval (Title), 10 Gacha Tokens]

I sigh a breath of relief, as I stick the thumbs up at the ship, as cheers ring out.

"Thank you, Lord Beerus." I breathe out, bowing to him. "If you ever stop by my kingdom, I'll treat you to an all-you-can-eat buffet."

"I might just have to take you up on that offer." Beerus muses, as behind him, Whis hums in delight.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, Lord Beerus, I have to finish what I'm doing here and hurry home, as one of my friends had gone into labor before I had been summoned, and I don't want them to think I'd flaked on them."

"Considering you are a child of divinity, is it safe to assume your friends are too?" Whis asks, curiosity oozing off of every word. "If so, I would love to visit. It's not often you see a divine newborn."

"Sorry, Lord Whis, but to the extent of my knowledge, none of my friends have divinity in them." I say, as Whis slightly deflates at the denial. "While I might not know everything about them, I think I'd know if one of them had divine heritage. Although considering how crazy the adventures I had gone on are, I wouldn't be too surprised to find out otherwise."

"Well, if you wish to test your mettle against me again, just stop by my planet sometime, preferably while I'm not napping." Beerus muses, as he and Whis warp off.

I start to collapse forward, the strain from the fight finally catching up to me, as a green arm prevents me from falling over.

"You have some explaining to do." Piccolo demands gruffly, flying over to the cruise ship as I slump back in a chair, exhausted, as Videl approaches with a bottle of water.

"Thank you." I mutter, as I drink the whole bottle as fast as I can, before letting out a satisfied sigh.

"No problem." Videl replies, before sitting down next to her dad at a table.

"Talk." Piccolo demands. "Why did you say I was your father?"

I sigh at his forwardness, before rubbing the back of my head in annoyance.

"I really didn't mean to meet you this early. I was hoping to get stronger and then meet you, so you didn't have to meet me in a situation where I could've gotten my ass kicked." I grumble out, frustrated. "Before anything, I'm just letting you know, I'm not here to expect you to drop your semi-nomadic life to take care of me. I don't need any kind of fatherly bonding. Not that I wouldn't be opposed to getting to know you properly, but I've got my own life back home. I'm Royalty of my own kingdom that I founded. I've got friends that rule with me. I've got a brand new niece that I'm going to spoil rotten. And most importantly, I'm going to get stronger. Stronger than anyone else."

I see the other Saiyans in the room perk up at that, as if I was challenging them specifically.

"You know, I'm starting to see the resemblance." Chi-chi whispers to Bulma, who makes a sound of agreement.

"Considering you managed to fight Beerus, you must be strong!" Goku chimes in, leaning in towards me. "Do you-"

"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Chi-chi screams, which causes me to jump in my seat out of shock. "She just fought off someone trying to destroy the planet! She's tattered and clearly very tired, and you want to fight her?! Let her rest, Goku!"

"And you aren't going to go off and fight someone, especially considering it's my birthday!" Bulma shouts too, stomping her foot.

"We're getting off topic!" Piccolo shouts. "How are you related to me?"

The crowd goes silent as Piccolo asks the million zeni question.

"I was created by the Red Ribbon Army as a prototype Super Soldier. I was a prototype test-tube baby meant to be a child soldier that grew fast, learned fast, could regenerate, and stayed at physical peak for the majority of their lifespan. Thankfully, due to a freak accident, I managed to escape and got a chance to live my own life." I explain, throwing my jean jacket over my shoulders like a cloak, as I smile at the group. "My name is Zero Nigiro. And I'm a Namekian Saiyan Hybrid Warrior from another world."

I place my hands on Vegeta and Goku's shoulders, before using {Bestow Skill}, giving them each a piece of {Divine Spark}.

"There. Now you two should be able to achieve Super Saiyan God under your own training." I say, dusting off my hands. "Oh, and for the record, Goku and Vegeta… I would suggest doing the same training with your other forms in the way you did with Super Saiyan back in the Cell Games. Because there are going to be threats coming up that you probably won't be strong enough to deal with unless you get better mastery over your transformations. Heck, I mastered Super Saiyan 2, and It almost gives as large a strength bonus as Super Saiyan 3 in terms of strength, although there is a gap."

"I completely forgot we did that..!" Goku perked up, slapping the back of his fist downward into his cupped hand.

"Why are you telling us this, and why should we trust you in the first place?" Vegeta scowls, clearly distrusting. "You show up out of nowhere, and fight Beerus down to spare us, and that's not suspicious?"

I walk over to Vegeta, looking down at him, remembering he's 5'5.

"YOU guys summoned ME." I explain, glaring back at him. "You summoned me when one of my closest friends was in LABOR. If there's a problem in the relationship with my friend because of this, I'm coming back to beat BOTH of your asses."

"Is that a threat?" Vegeta tries sizing me up, as I glare down at him.

"It took Beerus a couple hits to properly deal with me. You guys went down in less than three. Not a single word I've uttered to any of you has been anything less than the Truth." I say, my eye shifting from its base Silver color to the Hoshigan, as I see the green glow of the Hoshigan's Pupil in Vegeta's eye. "Regardless, I have other, better things I need to do. So I'm leaving."

I reach into my inventory and take out the Yamato, as Goku looks excited at the chance to fight me, and Vegeta looks frustrated that I stood up to him so easily.

"One last thing. Goku or Vegeta, if you see Beerus again, tell him to look into someone named Zamasu in Universe 10. He's going to become problematic in the future as he seeks to wipe out all mortal life, only leaving the gods." I explain, unsheathing the Yamato and making a portal before looking back at the group. "I don't know where I get my Saiyan heritage from, and frankly I don't care. But I do know that My Namekian side comes from you, Piccolo. Do what you will with that information, but I'm exhausted and going home. I'll be back. Later."

I head through the portal ignoring any comments or noises as I wave goodbye, returning to outside the hospital, where I hear people celebrating about the birth of the new Princess.

I teleport outside of the Hospital Room where Fawn is, and I knock on her door, before hearing a faint voice telling me to come in.

Entering the room, Fawn is laying on the bed in a hospital gown, eyes sunken in from exhaustion as she swaddles a little bundle within her arms, with both Alice and Gloss having tears in their eyes.

I enter, as Fawn looks me up and down, quirking an eyebrow at my disheveled state.

"Wha' happened to ya? Ya get pushed through a meat grinda' or somethin'?" Fawn asks, adjusting her hold on the baby.

"Let's go with; 'or something'." I chuckle, as Fawn smiles at me. "Anyways, do you mind if I see my niece?"

"Her name is Iris. Iris Aurelia Seaspring." Fawn explains, gently adjusts the blankets that the baby is wrapped in, as she hands them over to me.

They're cute, in the ugly kind of way that most babies are, but what surprises me is the scales on the corners of her face and the fin-like ears, similar to Gloss. Looking closer, the scales are more like a lizard's scales than a fish's scales, which causes me to use {Analyze} on the newborn.

{Iris Aurelia Seaspring}
{Title: N/A}
{Race: Leviathan Faunus}
{Level 1}
{Stats: They're a fucking baby, what do you think?}

My eyes widen in shock, and at the same time, they begin to fuss, so I hand them back to Fawn quickly, much to her amusement.

"Strongest in the Kingdom, an' yet terrified of a newborn." Fawn snorts, before grabbing the Juice Box on the counter and taking a drink from it.

"...Congratulations, you both." I say, slight tears in my eyes as I pretend like they're not there. "You're going to be great parents. Is there anything you need? I can go out and get it."

"...Ah' could go fer' a Pizza, assuming the docta' okays it." Fawn asks, turning her head to the doctor, who just walked in the room.

"You can get a pizza, but make sure it's got meat and vegetables on it, and no soda. You need proper carbs, proteins, and vitamins in you, considering what you went through." The doctor explains, hanging the clipboard on the edge of the bed as I walk out of the room, hearing a faint "no pineapple or fish please!" from the group.

Stepping out of the hospital, I warp to the roof, trying to remember in what direction the pizza place is, when I suddenly feel a presence behind me.

Turning around, I see a figure dressed in all black, wearing a Guy Fawkes mask as the world dims to a dull grey, as the noises of the kingdom slow to a halt. Everything becomes still and silent.

"You're a hard person to get in contact with." The figure explains in an autotuned voice, as it feels like the voice is changing pitch, tone, and volume every three seconds. "But thankfully I found you."

"Who are you and what do you want?" I ask, tense. Whoever this was, they managed to find and infiltrate my Pocket Dimension. I try to use {Inspect}, but I get a notification.

[ERROR: INSPECT BLOCKED BY THE {Guy Fawkes Mask}]

"I'm someone who's acting as a middle-man for a group with a vendetta." He explains, tossing a blood red envelope towards me onto the ground. "They're pissed that you got access to this beta-test version of The Gamer, while they're stuck with the original. So they sent me to 'put you in your place' as they claimed. Honestly, they sound like a bunch of fucking cartoon villains."

"So what do YOU have to do with any of this?" I glare, not touching the envelope they threw me, as I instead move to use Analyze on the {Guy Fawkes Mask}.

[Guy Fawkes Mask] [Legendary Mask]
(Gives the User the "Anonymous" Status [Status: Anonymous - Gives the user complete immunity to any ability that would reveal personal information.])

"Me? Nothing. This is purely business. Like I said, I'm the middle man." He explains, putting his gloved hands on his chest in a motion to signal innocence. "But you've pissed off a group of people who have a large enough vendetta to offer me quite the hefty sum of rare and valuable items, along with a lot of money."

"Doing what?" I ask, taking the Heroic Yamato out from my inventory, preparing for a fight. "And what can I do to get them off my ass?"

"Dunno about the first question, but the first is Simple." He points to the red envelope. "Inside is a Cursed Quest. You do that, and they'll stay off your back. Don't do this, and they'll invade your pocket dimension and declare war. Like the anime Gate but with a significantly higher chance of this being a fair fight if not a one-sided slaughter."

I mull over their words, as I use {Parallel Thought} to mull over the pros and cons, ultimately coming to a decision with a tired sigh.

"Fine. I'll take the stupid quest." I grumble out, picking up the red envelope and opening it. "But you couldn't have done this at any other time?"

He shrugged, as I got a new notification.

My eyes go wide in abject horror as I realize what just happened. I turn to the person, who puts their hand on their forehead.

"Shit." He spat out. "Talk about god awful timing. You've got to hurry. Whenever there's a cursed objective that takes something, normally you only get 48 hours to retrieve that 'something'. Most people who've dealt with a cursed object that haven't gotten their item or whatever back within 48 hours, either never see it again, or find it broken beyond belief."

"And you didn't think to tell me that ahead of time?" I say, blinking in front of them with {Teleport}. "If that child gets a single strand of hair on them even bent in the wrong direction, there's going to be so much hell to pay, that it's not even funny."

I go to punch him, only for him to vanish the second I blink, time resuming along with the color returning to the world, as after a moment I hear a bloodcurdling scream of rage from Fawn, while also getting panicked messages from Gloss through my phone.

"Shit… I gotta fix this now." I say, before grabbing the Yamato from my inventory. "Trust me on this one, partner, It'll make sense in a bit."

I hear a sense of alarm from the Yamato, as I disable {Fortune's Favor}, and plunge the blade through my chest, dropping my HP into the death range.
