Chapter Text
“I’m sorry.”
Taehyung’s next two days went into saying these exact two words — first to his eomma as he finally told her about his bodyguard job, to which she had a calmer reaction than he expected. Of course Ah-Yeon was concerned about her son’s safety, but he was an adult, capable of his own choices. This was his choice, and it was the only way they could afford a stable life for now, so she respected his decisions.
Next, to the hyungs, who dragged him out of his house the second day to a cafe nearby as they demanded to hear the whole story after finding out about the abduction incident from the news. All of them were quite shocked when Taehyung told them that he was secretively hired by Hana to bodyguard her son, not expecting such a plot twist in the slightest. They could imagine how much it would’ve confused and hurt Jungkook, after all the change Taehyung had brought into his life. The love, the trust, those silly & precious moments, that smile …was it all for show? Was it even true??
“Of course it was.” Taehyung thought out loud, making Jin beside him flinch a bit. The elder was gently caressing his back to comfort him.
“Of course what was??” Jimin asked, thinking of multiple ways to get Jungkook to come out of his room. Hoseok was sitting on his left, blowing his nose into tissues. Namjoon supplied them to him from the tissue box, almost having broken its mechanism when he pulled out the first one. Yoongi was currently busy burying his face into a perpetual facepalm.
“I…I-I know that his trust in me is completely broken, and h-he thinks that whatever we did was fake…but how can it be?? What we shared, it couldn’t be faked. I hope he understands that soon…b-because he won’t listen to me.” He sobbed, looking at all of them with his tired, reddened eyes. “H-He won’t listen to me, he w-won’t talk to me…what do I do?? P-Please, what should I fucking do??!”
“Enough. We’re going to his house.” Yoongi spoke up, holding out his hand towards Taehyung. “Get up. Let me see how he still doesn’t talk to you after I give him a piece of my mind.”
Jimin found it hot while the others found it intimidating, quickly leaving the cafe as they drove off to Jungkook’s house, instantly getting welcomed inside by Hana once they reached.
They all sat in the living room, staring at the youngest’s locked door by the corridor in vain.
“Did you try extra keys?” Yoongi asked, taking charge of the conversation.
“T-They’re of no use, he’s latched the door from inside.”
“Does he come out?”
“I think he does, at odd midnight hours or early dawn. And probably in the afternoon when I’m gone for work. The maids tell me about the unwashed plates in the sink.”
“Okay. Then there’s only one way.” He told them, as everyone had a little hunch of what he was about to suggest.
“When he steps foot outside, we ambush him and take him back to his room, leaving Taehyung inside too. I’ll give him a piece of my mind, which might do the trick, and then it’s all up to you.” Yoongi concluded as he pointed at the youngest, who hesitantly nodded at him.
“But will h-he–”
“He will listen, don’t worry. He better . I’ll make sure of it.”
Now all they had to do was patiently wait for Jungkook to step out, as they planned their positions and techniques meanwhile. They would be hiding by the two walls of the corridor that ended into the living room, so when the youngest comes out, they can ambush him easily.
“This is a bit silly.” Jin chuckled at the plan, finding it oddly funny for a supposedly heartbreaking reunion of their two maknaes.
“Silly times call for silly measures.” Namjoon joked, making the elder laugh even more.
“I believe it’s ‘drastic times call for drastic measures’, but okay.” Yoongi tried to correct him, playing his tamer role for the day a bit too seriously.
“Yoonie, calm down. Tell us the speech that you’re going to give to Jungkookie.” Jimin mellowed him down, as the kitty cleared his throat & started giving his little speech, when they heard the faint ‘click’ sound of the latch on the inside of Jungkook’s door open, all of them running to their positions. They peeked at the door from their places, seeing the youngest walk out towards the kitchen as they quickly got hold of him, carrying the man back to his room as he screamed out crude curses in a terrified manner, especially when he saw Taehyung enter the room. Hoseok brought him in, holding his hand tightly as he made the younger hide behind him until Yoongi
tamed the double bunny.
“What is he doing here?!? I DON’T WANT–”
“ Shut up . Now fucking listen to me. What’s your problem, huh?? He and your eomma were just looking out for you in a way that would make you comfortable!! Why are you giving them hell when they’re just trying to keep you safe?! You saw how you really needed a bodyguard yesterday, right?? Right ?! This is not fair to them, Jungkook. You should be the one apologizing to them, not the other way around, because it was your fault to step outside the house when they already warned you of the danger. Now stop being so stubborn, fucking grow up and listen to Taehyung. He really loves you, and I know you do too. Understood?!” He finished his speech, as there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd.
“F-Fine.” Came Jungkook’s answer as Yoongi smiled at him, giving his little one a warm hug. All of them patted his back and then whispered an “all the best” to Taehyung as they exited, leaving the two alone in the room.
The younger sat on the edge of his bed with folded arms, avoiding eye contact with Taehyung. He was looking so exhausted & fragile in the elder’s eyes that it broke his heart, feeling guilty of doing this to him. But Yoongi was right. It wasn’t their fault. They were just trying to keep him safe .
“B-Baby.” He managed to let out a faint whisper, as he walked towards Jungkook, falling down to his knees in front of him. “Won’t you look at me?”
No response.
“Aren’t I allowed to keep my loved ones safe? I-I know it started as a job, but then I fell so deeply for you. I don’t say ‘I love you’ if I don’t mean it, baby. P-Please.”
The younger cleared his throat, then sniffed, tears threatening to stream down his red face as he finally spoke up, “I don’t talk to someone if I don’t mean to, either.” He pushed Taehyung’s hands out of his lap as he climbed further into the bed, hiding himself in the blanket. The elder really despised the existence of blankets right now.
He figured that Jungkook wouldn’t listen to him no matter what, but what he can do is just silently go inside the blanket and lay down by his side, wrapping his arms around the younger’s tiny waist. Jungkook surprisingly allowed that. He must’ve missed him.
Taehyung’s face settled into the crook of the younger’s neck, leaving soft kisses on his nape that fastened the pace of his breath. “...You’d let me kiss you, touch you but then wouldn’t talk to me? Not that I’m complaining, but…I miss your beautiful voice. Your beautiful smile . Tell me, what can I do to earn it back? Please.”
“Shut up. J-Just shut up.” Jungkook spoke in a whimper, his whole body shaking because of his sobs. He turned around to face Taehyung, meeting with his swollen, red eyes. He mentally cursed himself for doing this to the love of his life, regretting the fact that he allowed his impulsive emotions to take control. Stupid. You’re so fucking stupid.
“I’m…s-sorry.” The younger apologized, making Taehyung’s eyes go wide. He didn’t expect this. Jungkook cupped his face with his hands, resting his forehead on the other’s as he repeated the words, “I’m sorry. I-I’m so sorry.”
“Why are you saying sorry??”
“F-For all the pain I keep c-causing all of you. I know it’s hard to deal with me and I-I…but I just can’t h-help it. Why can’t I be normal ?” He was so tired. So tired of his mind playing games with him.
“A person doesn’t just become normal suddenly, my love. It takes time. Even years. But that’s no problem, because we’re here for you. I’m here for you. I love you so much, Jungkook.”
Amidst all the chaos, all the miserable & abnormal things in his life…Taehyung was his normal. He didn’t want to lose him. He’s stupid to even consider living without him. He’s his only hope to be happy, to be normal someday.
“I-I love you more, hyungie.”
“Hyungie?? Did you just call me ‘hyungie’?!”
“Yeah.”
“I…” The elder didn’t know why the nickname made him so emotional, tears falling down his cheeks as Jungkook rolled his eyes at him.
“Why the fuck are you crying?? Should I go back to calling you an asshole?!”
“NO! No.” Taehyung immediately wiped away all his tears, a warm smile appearing on his face. “Call me hyungie again.”
“Hyungie.”
“Again.”
“Taehyungie hyungie hyung.”
“ Oh my god .” The elder’s tears were, in fact, more stubborn than the person they’re falling for.
“Stop crying you're so cringe!!” Jungkook screamed at him as both of them burst into a laugh that came out in broken syllables, because of their little experiment of trying to kiss each other and laugh at the same time.
The rest of the hyungs that were waiting outside the room also burst in through the door, their loud wallow of cries cringing the hell out of Jungkook.
“MY BABIES MY BABIES—”
“Shut up oh my god!!”
“Our Taekook.” Hoseok spoke in between his sobs, holding out his arms wide for Jimin as the two hugged and jumped to celebrate their ship coming true.
“Taekook?” Taehyung asked them, not sure about what the word meant.
“Ah, well, Jiminie & Hobi coined the word. Taehyung plus Jungkook equals to ‘Taekook’.” Jin explained to them as the others chuckled, and a smile appeared on the youngest’s face.
“Taekook is a cute word.”

— A Month Later —
The incident was long forgotten. Everything between Hana and her son was sorted as well. The awards show, too, successfully took place last week and their impending date finally happened a few days ago. It was a lovely date – half of which they spent in Jungkook’s house making out, and the other half in restaurants & garden spaces. They had a little picnic amidst one of the flower gardens, feeding each other strawberries as they kissed and talked away for hours under the turquoise sky.
They were at college now, with the first lecture starting in five minutes as Taehyung was waiting for the younger in the classroom, letting out a sigh. Even though they’re boyfriends now and are practically inseparable, nothing can take away Jungkook’s morning pampering sessions with his hyungs. It’s their time, and the elder respects it. A mischievous thought came into his mind as he saw the younger enter the classroom, walking towards him.
“You’re late, baby.” Taehyung said as he sat on Jungkook’s seat, not letting him sit.
“Do you see the professor here??”
“Nope.”
“Then I’m not late. Now scoot over.” He justified himself, keeping his bag on the desk. The elder just smiled at him innocently, not having moved an inch.
“Hmm…Don’t wanna.”
“ I swear to fucking god .” The younger cursed as Taehyung chuckled, having the utmost fun doing his favourite activity; teasing Jungkook.
“Okay, the fun’s over. Now move , hyungie.”
“Yeah, nah.” Nothing could change his mind, not even when the lecture’s professor came in and Jungkook was still standing, getting quite irritated.
“Hyungie move!! The professor has–”
“I guess that’s just bad luck for you, baby.” The younger had had enough. He walked over to sit on the elder’s seat but before he could do so, Taehyung quickly moved over to it, looking at him with an evident smirk on his face.
“Oh, you wanna play this game? Fine . Be my fucking guest.” Jungkook warned him as he sat on his boyfriend’s lap, getting him by a surprise. He moved back & forth, trying to make himself comfortable; finding the right spot. Taehyung’s face had gone red as he understood the ulterior motives of the double bunny well and promptly held his tiny waist, lifting him up a bit so the elder could shift to the other seat.
“You’re a menace.” He whispered in the younger’s ears, trying to calm his own flushed face by taking deep breaths. “A very shameless one.”
“But you love me.” Jungkook said it like a fact, which it very much is. There was a playful yet genuine smile on his face.
“It’s like an incurable plague.” He answered, resisting to kiss the angry pout on his boyfriend’s face as they were in the middle of a lecture.
“I hate you.”
“And I love you more.”
