Chapter Text
A loud gasp echoed through the room. Yet the room was ringing, the curtains waved despite the windows being closed. Tommy was struggling to breathe— Cold beads of sweat drizzled down as he continued to gasp heavily. His tail curling as the action. His brain pounded as he continued to calm down. The lingering feeling of him forgetting something, something…important. His breath soon evened out, still feeling like his body was on high alert mode. Tommy takes a quick glance around his room, surveying just in case if anything seems out of place.
That seems to do the tricked as tension from his shoulders released. The blonde sighed as he reluctantly grabbed his phone to check the time. 8:54… FUCK— His shift starts in 6 MINUTES—
Tommy pulled off his blanket, quickly rising to his feet. However, it seemed like his head other plans, as the room began violently spinning around him. He sat down, trying to tame the splitting headache. He then began messaging his temple as he contemplating on whether going to work at all.
Tommy opened his phone, checking the date. Then did he realize who was one the shift. With a new found courage, he rang in his workplace. As the phone continued ringing, anxiety crept under skin. Suddenly, the call clicked and a voice can be heard, “Uhh—Hi and thank you for callin—“ Tommy interrupted the obvious script the other was awkwardly reading. “Frank! Its Tommy,” The other quickly responded, “Yooo! Sup’ Tommy,”
“Hey man, do you which manger is on shift today?” A shuffle can be heard from the phone, “Yeah its Dave.” The blonde pumped his fist in to the air, before remembering that Frank was still on the line. “Can you tell him that I can’t make it to my shift?” He then quickly added, “I can take a shift for in the futur—“ Frank then cut in, “Nah man, I already owe you one from last week.” The blonde sighed in relief, the last thing he wanted was to take another double shift. “Thanks man,” The other hummed in response then hung up the phone.
Tommy sagged in relief, pushing the thought how pissed his other manger will be. Welp. Thats a problem for future Tommy. For now, he went back to bed, exhaustion taking over and instantly knocking out.
——
He wasn’t sure how long he’s been asleep, but what he does know that its been long enough for him to starving. Begrudgingly, he made his way towards his kitchen to look through what foods he can quickly make.
In the end he decided to eat instant noodles, mixing an egg into it to add some protein. Tommy began chowing down, you can never go wrong with noodles. He mindlessly scrolled through his phone as he ate. Stopping when he saw a ad for a new position, it another cafe but this one was closer, plus it had more employe perks. As much as the blonde hated pity, never will he back down in free food. Well, looks like he better get ready.
——
Tommy left a house, an hour early. While he isn’t the most punctual person ever, haters will argue that he never is, he does want to make a good first impression. Some may find him annoying at first—
His monologue was cut of off by a quiet rumbling sound behind him. He whips behind him, closely scanning his surroundings. Suddenly his mind screamed at how wrong it felt. His mind pounding, as if his body knew something he didn’t. An explosion was set off in the distance. Instinctively, Tommy raised his hand to cover any debris that may flies towards him, as a result. Smoke invaded his lungs as he began coughing violently.
Suddenly, a hand roughly grabbed him pulling him to the side. The blonde vision blurred as someone else voiced ringed out distantly. “Wha’…?” The voice now louder, said something again. Tommy looked down to block out all the overwhelming sounds. Finally his vision came back, he found himself face to face with a… man?
He uses the word man loosely, as the person infront of him may not be one at all. There is a creepy ass mask on their face but somehow he can still feel the other’s eyes. The mask itself is relatively simple, only having a freaky smilely face. No— what really irks him, is his outfit. The outfit consists of the most obnoxious neon green that he has ever had the misfortunate of ever laying his eyes on.
Clearly his face shown signs of disgust as the fashion disaster began speaking, “You ok kid?” Their voiced disoriented by some very expensive tech. Great…Not only does this prick have disastrous taste, BUT he also is RICH?? A another voice reached them, “DREAM!” Not only did he recognize the voice, but finally knew where he had seen this poor excuse of a man infront came from. “Heros…?”
“Oh, so you’ve heard of me,” The hero, Dream said, rather cockily might he add. Tommy resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Instead he snorted, “Hard not to.” Soon his boyf— I mean best friend, 404, arrived to his side. Its no surprise really, the two are awfully close… Not to even mention the dating allegations. The blonde wouldn’t even be shocked if it was just of those big marketing scheme. Even if it is, its still pretty funny. (if you ever find yourself bored, take a scroll to through the Twitter comment threads. You won’t be disappointed)
His monologue got interrupted by the voice—Dream’s voice. Honestly if Tommy head still wasn’t pounding he may have put effort in answering back. Yet again, he heard footsteps behind him—wait no. Multiple footsteps. He looked pass the heros only to be met with flashing lights and a familiar siren sound. Fuuucck—the police is going to be a pain to deal with.
“Well fellas…It was nice meeting” The blonde stood up, brushed the debris off his pants. “but I must be going.” Dream stayed silent, tilting his head ever so slightly. Suddenly a weird wave deja vu washed over Tommy, however unlike last time, the younger just laughed awkwardly. He slowly step to the side before turning on his heels and speed-walking away. “Stay safe Tommy.” Dream’s voiced carried out. Only once the Hero got out of view, only then did Tommy realized that he never gave him his name. He gulped down anxiously, just another fluke…Right?
——
As the saying goes,
Fool me once shame on you.
Fool me twice shame on me.
But me three times? Well…guess we’ll see…
——
Now Tommy may be a man of many things, but a man of directions was never one of them. Sure he knew left and right but East?? South?? Now you’re just making things up. The blonde sighed, he looked around, trying to see anything he recognizes. There goes his job interview… as to add salt to the wound, he’s lost. Being lost is one thing, but being lost during the Villain’s Hour. Well thats a recipe for disaster.
In frustration, he opted to kicking rock in hope they will miraculously show him the way home. He shove his hands in his pockets to protect them form the bitter cold. The blonde basically gave up on the new job offer, just opting to find his way home. Suddenly he heard a quiet thunk behind him. He whipped around to see a strange object on the ground. Hesitantly he picked it up to inspect it. It was some sort of a gem, what really took him off guard was the way the jewel seem to shine a soft red in the light. As he caught sight of it, Tommy’s eye dilated. His instincts began humming loudly as his grasp around it tighten.
His previous worries fading away as Tommy stared at the treasure, as his instinct dubbed it. Distracted, the piglin didn’t notice the slow setting of the sun. Unintentionally as he dropped his guard, his hybrid traits peaked out. His tail swished, delighted at the thought of having his own piece of treasure.
However his thought were discontinued as he heard of flap of wings above him. Tommy, still on the edge of his instincts, entered his flight or fight response. He jumped into a near alleyway, hoping to waiting out whatever he heard. The piglet shook his head as a way to try to combat the death grip that is known as his instincts. After a moment, it seemed to have work, the jewel now safely secured in his hoodie pocket.
Tommy really needs to go home…Any longer he may be faced with not-so-friendly people. As soon as a took a step out of the alleyway, he heard another flap of wings. This one much louder and closer than before. The blonde tensed as he looked around, he then saw it… A crow… He freaked out over A FUCKING CROW!? Tommy buried his face into his hands in embarrassment.
He huffed a laughed, he then began glared back at the culprit—the crow. “You saw nothing,” he threatened the bird. The crow, to it’s credit, cawed back. Tommy took that as a sign for agreement. “Over a fucking crow…ha…” The blonde muttered under his breathe as he began his journey home.
A cawed echo through the alleyway, watching intently as the piglet walked away. What the blonde missed is the way how a new figure emerged, seemingly from the shadows. A smile pressed on his face, with a bit too many teeth. Content that the younger enjoyed his little gift. The crow perched on his shoulder, demanding pets, the other complied. Soon Tommy will formally meet him but, first, he has to go back to his rather impatient sons. With one last glance, the avian left, all tracks of his arrival disappearing with him.
——
Tommy eventually did make his way back home, what he didn’t seem to notice was how a familiar crow perch by a nearby tree. It wasn’t long until the same bird flew away, telling others about his finding. And if Tommy clutched the jewel to his chest as he slept, that’s just something between him and the crow.
