Chapter Text
It had been three weeks since the Harry Styles concert and today was a momentous occasion. Jungkook had survived meeting Yoongi and their parents on separate occasions but Tae’s family all agreed that they were great together. Jungkook had reminded himself that nothing could have been as bad as the double dates with Jimin and Hobi so if they could get through that, he could get through a couple of dinners with Tae’s family. That thought process worked because unlike Jimin, Tae’s parents and brother went out of their way to be polite and show the best sides of themselves and he got the impression that they wanted him to like them as much as he wanted to get along with them too.
Jimin spent at least a week after the concert relaying every song and every moment to everyone he saw. This included Jungkook every time they spoke on the phone or had food together so the photographer was pleased when Hobi suggested they move in together and Jimin had other news to squeal about. The big move was a few months away and Jungkook felt sorry for Tae who would then be sharing a house with Jimin and Hobi.
Today was a big deal though. It was the grand opening of the cafe and Jungkook was going along as Tae’s plus one for the first official public outing as a bonafide couple. The cafe wouldn’t be operating as they would on a normal day, they were laying out a sample of the menu items and basically having a celebration with the press there, even though the lady owner had also asked Jungkook to take some pictures if he didn’t mind.
That would usually be enough for Jungkook. The dilemma of what to wear and how to handle the sociable nature of such an event whilst appearing as part of a couple would probably have tipped him over the edge but in the grand scheme of things, that all seemed like the easiest part of the day.
Tonight… tonight he was staying overnight at Tae’s and he’d been in mental turmoil about it. Jimin had mentioned overnight stays a few times and suggested that he should get Tae to stay at his so he could keep his routine and he always ruined the advice by suggesting he made sure they had sex early on and set an alarm so as not to overlap. Sex and the fact that it was quite a foreign notion by this stage wasn’t even a concern because he trusted his dick (as Jimin put it). It was the whole ‘staying overnight’ somewhere different that felt like a huge rigmarole. He would go as far to say that his best friend was probably right and it would’ve been better to invite Tae to stay at his place because at least he would have the comfort of familiar surroundings but the thing is that he hadn’t discussed the actual arrangement with Jimin. The model and his boyfriend had spent a few nights away with Hobi’s family and weren’t due back until tomorrow so Jungkook hadn’t wanted to bog him down with his ridiculous worries, even if it could've been seen as crisis payback.
The brightside was that Tae’s home was familiar, sort of. It wasn’t like staying at his place but it was familiar thanks to Jimin living there. As always, Tae was kind and thoughtful, wanting to discuss all the options when he’d been brave and invited Jungkook to stay the night. The photographer had kissed him until they were gasping for breath when they’d sat on a bench beside the river and Tae pulled a notebook and pen from his bag to formulate a plan. Jungkook was speechless at the care and consideration the radio presenter showed and couldn’t verbalise his gratitude so kissed him instead. Taehyung wanted to be thorough and cover all eventualities but he knew that when it came to it, Jungkook simply needed to know that if he needed to leave at any point then he could and Tae would understand.
So here he was, arriving at the cafe with his camera bag and overnight bag. There was a ribbon across the door so he walked around to the rear entrance where Taehyung was already waiting for him. This time there wasn’t a hint of hesitation as the couple embraced and shared a brief kiss. Jungkook loved the intimacy they shared. He found that he was as tactile at times as Taehyung and he didn’t mind where they were or what they were doing as long as he was within reach. Jimin had started calling them the ‘no space’ couple and neither were going to attempt to deny it because even the briefest of touches brought them comfort.
“I’ll take you through to the staff room and you can leave your bag there.”
“Okay.” Jungkook was an overthinker and he knew it was only a matter of time before Tae picked up on his nervousness.
The cafe was already busy. The couple entered the main area and the lady owner greeted them both. The young enthusiastic staff members were as keen as always and animated as they told everyone how excited they were about their first official day being open to the public in two days. Jungkook had his camera over his shoulder as he stayed close to Taehyung. He was always in awe of how enchanting the radio presenter was as he spoke to people and he’d had to accept his fate that he was falling for this man.
As more people gathered outside, it was time for the ribbon to be cut and for the sign to be unveiled so that the food could be uncovered. The people inside were led outside and the mayor positioned himself at the front, armed with scissors, ready to do the deed after a speech. The lady owner stood beside him as he spoke and Jungkook stood on a small step so he could take some pictures. He was glad to have an excuse to move away from the crowd of people who wanted to get inside and take a look at the new look cafe. Tae had to stay near the front, the local press requesting that staff stand there so they could get them into the photos but his eyes remained on the photographer. He was bewitched by the man who had been brought to him by the universe, who he’d felt a bond with early on and had enriched his life so much.
Everyone cheered when the ribbon was cut and the piece of fabric was pulled away from the sign. ‘My Time’ was named simply because the owner had a vision of it being a space for people to occupy when it was their time, whether that time be spent alone or with others. She intended for the cafe to be the place where people went when they needed time to think or time with friends. She had a vision for it to be all inclusive, for everyone to be welcome and she made this clear through the display of flags on the wall at the far end which included the progress pride flag amongst all the others from around the world. When she hired staff, she focused on inclusivity, one was fluent in English and one could speak a total of three other languages. Her ethos was admirable and Jungkook hoped the cafe was a success because of how much thought had gone into it.
Once inside, there were so many more people and it meant two things that Jungkook wasn’t a fan of, small talk and fake smiling. He preferred to stand next to Tae and snap the odd picture here and there but speaking to people wasn’t his thing.
“Are you two actually together?” the lady owner asks the couple when she finally made it around to speaking with them. She’d seen them sharing breaks together and heard Taehyung talking about someone but this was the first opportunity she’d seen them together in this way.
“I think so?” Tae responds which makes Jungkook giggle beside him.
“You think so?” The owner says back.
Tae looks at the photographer. It seemed like such a simple question but does she mean boyfriends? It was obvious that they were at the event together because they’d barely been apart but even though he knew they were classed as dating, they’d never broached the subject of anything else.
“I think so too.” Jungkook answers while looking into the eyes of the man who had changed his world and given him so much hope.
“And you met here, at My Time! I hadn’t ever thought about dating? The idea that people could meet here and fall in love so this place would be carved into their love story is just so touching.” The lady owner gushes.
“I suppose we did meet here.” Tae adds.
Jungkook nods, “Technically we did.”
“I must go! I think I’m going to cry!” She says as she turns and walks towards a group of people baying for her attention.
The couple laughed, “She’s really nice.” Jungkook says.
“She is. Hey, do you want to go?”
“Don’t you need to stay longer?”
“No, I’d rather go. I thought we could take a slow walk back along the river?”
“That sounds great.”
Tae informs one of the staff that he was leaving and the couple collect Jungkook’s bag before taking a deep breath out in the open, free of the crowded cafe. The slow walk is exactly what Jungkook needs as they walk hand in hand, enjoying the fresh air before his mind works against him again.
When they arrive back at the house, they giggle and hurry upstairs to avoid Namjoon and Jin who are in the kitchen arguing about something which isn’t unusual. Taehyung makes a guess that Namjoon has dropped something or forgotten an ingredient or is just generally getting in Jin’s way while he tries to cook. Everyone keeps out of the way of the kitchen while the couple are in there because they always bicker and ask people to take sides so Jimin and Taehyung are mostly grateful that they have a separate kitchen in their basement apartment so they frequent the communal one a whole lot less than they would otherwise.
“You can put your bag over there.” Tae points.
Jungkook has been in Tae’s room a few times but not for any particular length of time. His room is practically identical to Jimin’s in size but is set up differently. He excuses himself to the bathroom, nerves had started to play havoc with his insides. He was partly fearful that he’d need to leave at 3am because he couldn’t sleep but now he was also nervous about being intimate with Tae. They were so affectionate, always kissing and wrapped in an embrace, always touching and caressing each other. All the feelings were there, he had no doubt about any of it and wasn’t even really worried about underperforming or their sexual dynamics, he was just nervous about taking that step.
“Did you want to watch a drama instead of a movie?” Tae asks when Jungkook emerges from the bathroom.
“Sure.” Jungkook liked that they had a plan for this evening. They didn’t have to stick with it but it was there and they both agreed to it. “Do you have something in mind?”
“Everyone is talking about Heartstopper and Young Royals so I thought we could start with one of those. Both series are binge worthy apparently and we could watch the whole thing tonight and maybe the other one another time?”
“They are actually on my watch list. Jimin and Hobi watched Young Royals and they apparently cried for a week because the two boys are not allowed to be together.”
“Oh… well, maybe we will watch Heartstopper then? I don’t think you’re ready for me turning into a blubbering mess.”
Jungkook laughs, “You do know that my best friend is Jimin, right?”
“He’s got nothing on me once I start.” Tae giggles.
“What have I got myself into?” Jungkook says with a smile.
“A relationship?” Tae asks bashfully.
“Why do you say it like that?”
“I don’t know…” He shrugs his shoulders, “... is that what this is?” he did feel a bit stupid but they hadn’t always been clear about everything so now was a good as time as any.
“I think so… I mean, it might take some time to message and dump all those other boyfriends I have but sure, we can be exclusive.” Jungkook grins.
“Very funny.”
“Heartstopper it is then?”
“It would seem so. Unless you don’t mind a boyfriend who is a snivelling wreck and would prefer to watch the other one.”
“Heartstopper is fine, Tae. We can watch Young Royals when I am armed with tissues.”
The couple sit on the round cuddle chair that is nestled in the corner of the room. Close to the big round chair is a short, wide bookcase that doubles up as a tv stand and is Tae’s peaceful place, as he called it. They sit close, with legs entwined and Jungkook feels at ease as the drama starts, excited about watching it when he’d read the synopsis.
They stole the odd kiss throughout six episodes and it was Tae who was conscious of the time. They had two episodes to go, an hour left, at the time when Tae would usually be on his way to the radio station.
“Do you want to finish the last two in the morning before you go?”
Jungkook wasn’t going to lie, he was too busy being surprised that he actually felt tiredness creeping up on him. He’d enjoyed the drama so far and they’d taken a short break to grab some ramen and pretty much otherwise hadn’t moved.
“Sure.”
They switch everything off, Tae locks his bedroom door but explains again to Jungkook that if he needs to leave then it was perfectly okay and showed him how to unlock it. He also said they could watch the two episodes left at any time and there wasn’t any pressure for the photographer to stay if he felt uncomfortable or anxious at any stage of the night.
Jungkook found so much comfort in Tae’s words and they’d spoken about it all so often that he didn’t have any worries should he feel the need to go. He has no doubt that he would probably feel guilty if he did leave but he’d deal with that and talk it over with the man who has so much empathy and understanding.
Taehyung switches on a mood lamp that casts a warm glow in the room. He asks Jungkook if he minds a rainbow of colours in the room and it creates a beautifully soft ambience as the room turns from purple to turquoise to orange to pink. Jungkook looks around the room as it changes and he likes it a lot.
“Do you lay on a specific side of the bed?” Taehyung asks Jungkook.
The bed is at the far end of the room, pretty much where Jimin has his bed but Tae’s king size is nearer to the middle with the headboard against the wall. He has a small one drawer cube shaped cabinet on each side of the bed and he puts a bottle of water on each one. He had been looking forward to this evening and having personal quiet time with his boyfriend. He ideally hoped they would wake in each other's arms after a restful sleep but he knew that might not happen. He was itching to hold Jungkook properly and get his hands on his skin. He had no expectations for anything intimate, he just wanted to satisfy the desire he’d had from the start and that was to hold him tight.
The photographer changed out of his trousers and socks, leaving his t-shirt and black calvin kleins on. He didn’t feel embarrassed at all even though he thought he might. The room had a calming atmosphere but he thinks that might also be down to Tae’s presence. He’d felt so relaxed since arriving, once his nerves had quickly settled.
“I don’t mind. You should sleep on your usual side.”
Tae smiles, “Okay.”
They climb into bed, Tae in loose pyjama bottoms and a t-shirt. He turned onto his side to face Jungkook once he was under the duvet and suddenly the room felt so quiet and still.
“Would you like some music on or something?” Tae asks.
Jungkook moves closer and places a hand on Tae’s waist, “Tae, I’m okay, I promise.”
“Okay.” He whispers.
It’s Jungkook who moves his face towards Tae, edging ever closer and kissing him sweetly. Tae responds and leans into it, moving his hand to its favourite place on the side of Jungkook's face so his thumb can caress the apple of his cheek. This action has become his thing, he does it a lot, even when they’re just cuddling. Now when they walk alongside the river at night, they stop somewhere quiet on the grass so they can play a game of this or that while laying together under the cover of darkness.
Slowly, the kiss intensifies. It gradually heats up and it’s Tae who pushes Jungkook onto his back, while his right hand remains lightly on his face. Arousal becomes more prominent than any last shred of nerves as the photographer's fingers twist in the velvety soft curls sitting at the back of Tae’s head. Neither of them thinks about where this is going, they focus on the present and the feelings oozing from every cell of their bodies. They know there’s no pressure, they have enough trust in each other to know that this will go as far as they want it to.
Jungkook’s hands travel first, timidly and cautiously south towards his buttocks. Taehyung is a little clumsy as he positions himself on top of his boyfriend, encouraged by the way Jungkook adjusts his legs to accommodate him. The kiss is deep, as deep as the sound of satisfaction that rumbles in Tae’s throat as his backside is squeezed.
The radio presenter pulls back slightly so he can check on the man laying under him, “Is this okay?”
Jungkook nods, “Yeah… more than okay.” He whispers.
“Are you sure?” Tae’s length is hardening between his legs and the desire for his boyfriend is growing just as fast.
“Stop talking.” Jungkook says with a smile, lifting his head off of the pillow to give Tae encouragement to continue.
Tae resumes the kiss, lowering his body so their crotches rub together. There’s a deep throated moan as Jungkook relishes the friction and he instinctively bucks his pelvis upwards. Tae pushes up onto his knees and lifts his own t-shirt, throwing it behind him. Jungkook reaches out so Tae can pull him into a sitting position and he also removes his own shirt. The radio presenter’s brain misfires when he takes in the view of his man’s well defined torso. He’s caught in the act but can’t stop staring, pretty sure his mouth is watering too. Jungkook half smirks, half blushes when Tae’s eyes roam his body. He concentrates his thoughts and pulls Tae down on top of him once more.
The room is illuminated in a green light into blue as the couple leave the bed to hesitantly remove their last pieces of clothing. Jungkook’s eyes widen as he eyes the length standing to attention between his boyfriend’s legs and he very much hopes that his assumption was correct and that Tae has a preference to top.
The radio presenter pulls open the drawer beside the bed and even though he doesn’t want to be presumptuous, he thinks he has to ask at this stage.
“Do… erm… do you have a preference?” He asks, holding a condom between his fingers.
Jungkook takes two steps closer and pushes Tae’s hand to his chest, “You’ll need this.” He says, hoping he’s right.
Tae smiles, “I would’ve been happy either way.”
“Me too.” Jungkook confirms.
“That’s one this or that we haven’t done.” Tae says with a cheeky grin.
“Both.” Jungkook answers without being asked. “You?”
“Both but I tend to prefer giving, more.”
Jungkook feels like a prize winner in the competition of life as Tae answers. He doesn’t want to talk anymore, he wants to feel their bodies connecting and reignite the fires within him that had been dormant for so long.
The photographer lays in the middle of the bed and welcomes Taehyung between his legs. His outstretched hands tangle in the hair atop Tae’s head as his body is covered in kisses. It should be Jungkook who is groaning but Tae can’t hold in his noises of appreciation as he covers Jungkook’s torso with his mouth. He can’t believe Jungkook achieves such a great physique without attending a proper gym and he’s in awe.
Taehyung uses a lot of lubricant as his fingers work on relaxing Jungkook’s entrance. He doesn’t even attempt to locate the man’s prostate because neither of them are likely to last considerably long anyway. They’d spoken about past conquests and how long it had been, neither of them seeing any action for months and both said it wasn’t anything to write home about. Jungkook in particular hadn’t allowed himself to have a deep personal connection with anyone until now and as his body relaxed around his boyfriend’s fingers, it was worth the wait.
Jungkook sits up when the radio presenter kneels between his legs. He takes the condom packet from Tae and tears it open. “Can I do it?” He asks.
“Yeah.” Because surely no one would refuse this gorgeous man.
Taehyung closes his eyes and takes deep breaths as Jungkook rolls the latex down his shaft. His appendage is thick and pulsing as it’s sheathed. He reaches out with his right hand and holds the side of Jungkook’s face, his thumb moving as if on autopilot now. He leans in and slots their lips together, licking over Jungkook’s top lip and pulling away before the photographer can kiss him back.
“Hey.” Jungkook says.
Tae places his fingertips on Jungkook’s chest and pushes him backwards, a smirk forming on his lips as he reaches for the lube and slathers it over his erection. He drags his index finger along the cleft of his arse and checks his entrance is ready before positioning his body on top of Jungkook and entering him slowly.
The photographer takes many deep breaths and wriggles his lower body as he is filled. The pressure is intense but Tae is so careful and their gazes remain locked on each other until their bodies are flush together.
“Okay?” The radio presenter asks, lowering himself down so he can pepper Jungkook’s face in light kisses while he waits for him to adjust.
Jungkook smiles dopily and acknowledges that instead of ‘falling’ for this man, it’s more past tense now. “M’ fine.”
Tae doesn’t stop with the kisses until Jungkook tells him that he can move. He starts slowly, edging himself out before carefully pushing back in. Jungkook claws at his back and raises his legs higher as Tae picks up the pace. He’s panting hard and a string of erotic groans are ejected into the air with every fast breath.
Tae’s body feels like it’s going to combust as he drives his hips backwards and forwards. He needs to stave off the orgasm sitting on the horizon so he reaches between them and takes Jungkook’s erection into his hand. His brain malfunctions at the heaviness and girth as he strokes him firmly.
“Fuck!” The photographer exclaims. His body ignites with pleasure and he looks to the ceiling. His fingertips dig into Tae’s shoulder blades and his jaw hangs loose as he moans loudly and his cock spews cum between their bodies.
Tae speeds up his pelvic action and drives himself to his own climax. The expression on his boyfriend’s face magnifies everything as his body is imprisoned by the intense ecstasy that floods his system and he fills the condom.
“Are… you… okay?” Tae manages with a heavy breath between words.
“More than… okay.” Jungkook replies.
Tae moves reluctantly to discard the condom, returning with a warm, wet towel so he can clean Jungkook up. He hands the photographer his underwear as he takes the towel to the bathroom and slips into his pyjama bottoms. Even in the ever changing colours in the room, he can see enough of Jungkook for his stomach to flutter.
Once back in bed, they lay facing each other, left and right arms respectively under the pillows supporting their heads. Their free hands wrapped around each other, holding their bodies close and calm descends once more.
Tae watches Jungkook for a minute or so and is surprised but hopeful when his eyelids begin to droop. He moves forward the short distance between their faces and kisses his lips then each eyelid as the photographer gives in to sleep. Tae’s heart feels so full, like it could burst but he doesn’t know if Jungkook could wake in a few hours and be unable to sleep. He is usually awake himself at this time, preparing to read a story across the airwaves to anyone that will listen but even he can feel sleep looming now.
***
It takes a solid ten minutes before reality slaps Jungkook in the face and he realises that he isn’t at home in his own bed when he wakes. His body feels so heavy, it reminds him of the days he went without sleep and his limbs felt like they were made of lead. However, he almost laughs when realisation hits him that his body feels heavy because there is a certain radio presenter lying on him and it has nothing to do with sleep deprivation. His mouth feels scummy and he manages to free a hand so he can rub his eyes. He’s on his back, staring at the ceiling and he has absolutely no idea what time it is. The one thing he does know is that it is morning because there are slithers of daylight leaking through the edges of the blinds. He strokes Tae’s hair and uses the touch to ground himself as he tries to remember falling asleep. Jungkook definitely remembers the sex, that was wow and he thinks there’s something that needs to be said for the power of endorphins since his memory fails after that.
Taehyung’s mouth feels crusty as he enters the realms of consciousness. His neck complains as he moves and it takes a minute for him to realise that Jungkook is still in his bed. He wonders what time it is and whether this is the moment he finds out it’s 3am and that his boyfriend needs to go home but the daylight registers in his mind so he rubbishes that thought process.
“Hi.” Jungkook says.
“Hi.” Tae responds, swallowing and acknowledging that he badly needs to clean his teeth.
“Did you sleep okay?”
Tae smiles, “Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that?”
“I haven’t been awake long but I don’t know what the time is.”
Tae reaches out with his left hand and knocks the bottle of water onto the floor as he makes a grab for his phone without looking at what he is doing. He blinds himself when he presses the button at the side and the screen lights up.
“7.52.” Tae says croakily before dropping his phone beside him.
“W-what?”
Tae rolls to his side so he can face the man who looks visibly shocked, “Is that bad? Do you have somewhere to be?” he asks, rubbing his face.
“I… what? No…”
Taehyung decides that he needs to sit up so he moves onto his backside and sits against the headboard. “Jungkook? What is it?”
“I slept so much.” He says, sitting up beside Tae and allowing the time to sink in.
“Oh… I see.”
“What time did we go to sleep?”
“Erm… it was about 1am I think but I can’t be sure.”
“Wow!” Jungkook can’t get his head around it.
“Is this a good thing?”
“I don’t think it can be a bad thing? I’m just in shock. Things have been better these past months and I’ve been getting regular sleep but I usually set my alarm to wake me so I suppose I haven’t allowed myself to sleep beyond that.”
“Do you feel okay?”
“Y-yeah, I think so.”
“Heartstopper and breakfast?”
“I need to clean my teeth first.” Jungkook giggles.
“Does that mean no kisses until we’ve both got minty breath?”
“Yeah! Definitely. I do not love morning breath.”
“You’re just head over heels for the rest of me then?” He asks hopefully, not expecting a proper answer.
“I think so…” Jungkook smiles, “... I’ll head down to the kitchen and make breakfast.”
Tae is stunned by the admission spoken so casually. “I can help.”
“Please, Tae, let me do this for you.”
“Okay.”
Jungkook grabs his sweatpants and heads for the bathroom where he cleans his teeth before heading down to the kitchen. He’s in a daze as his bare feet pad down the stairs and the house is bathed in silence as he opens the door at the bottom of the stairs. He walks to the kitchen and opens the fridge where he finds some eggs and decides on a quick omelette which would be the fastest option. He knows there’s a tray in one of the cupboards because he used it last time he was here and needed it to take food and drinks upstairs to Jimin who was busy having a crisis of some kind.
As he whisks up some eggs and pours them into a frying pan, he boils the kettle for decaf tea and finds the tray he was looking for. He’s humming to himself when the front door opens and the quiet is rudely interrupted by a cheerful Jimin and Hobi.
“No way! No fucking way! Jungkook is here!” Jimin says excitedly.
The photographer was sure that his best friend told him he would be returning after lunch and not at 8.30am. “And there goes the peace and quiet.” Jungkook says.
“You stayed over… didn’t you? Did you sleep? Did you fuck? Oh my god, you did didn’t you and then you slept… have you fucked this morning is that why you look like that?”
Jungkook can’t absorb everything Jimin is saying. He’s heard the word ‘fuck’ too many times and a succession of questions and quite simply it’s too early for any of it.
“Yeah I stayed.”
“What’s wrong with how he looks?” Hobi asks, puzzled. He thinks Jungkook looks great for this time of the morning.
“Nothing is wrong! He looks haggard… but in a really good way.” Jimin explains.
Hobi doesn’t get it so opts to stay out of it.
“Can we catch up later?” Jungkook asks, putting the omelette onto a board and rolling it so he can chop it into pieces.
“I could squeeze you! This is so great! Yes… dinner tomorrow… my shout!” Jimin says happily.
Jungkook smiles at his friend, “Okay, you have a date.”
Jimin and Hobi take over in the kitchen as Jungkook takes the tray up to Tae, relieved that his friend let him get away so easily.
“Did I hear voices?” Tae asks.
“Yeah, Jimin and Hobi are back.”
“I thought they were back later today?”
“Me too.”
Jungkook passes the tray to Taehyung who holds it while he gets comfortable on the cuddle chair and then places the tray on their laps.
“Thank you… but can I have a kiss first?” Tae asks.
“Sure.” is the reply before their lips lock.
Jungkook is dazed at the turn of events in his life and all because of a graveyard radio show. He once feared insomnia and his past would rule his life forever but now he has Tae who he knows will be by his side no matter what because this is their time now.
